April 26, 2024UFL Championship Odds – Birmingham Stallions in a Class their Own
April 26, 2024If the top seed Boston Celtics are going to win a record 18th NBA championship it’s not going to happen without anxious moments. Those times were to come later in what is expected to be a deep NBA playoff run. After all Boston had the best record in the league with 18 more wins during the regular season than their first round opponent the Miami Heat. But anything can happen in the postseason and the Celtics are well aware of that after getting upset by the Heat in last year’s Eastern Conference Final. After dropping Game 1 of the series by 20 points, Miami stole Game 2 as a 14-point dog on the NBA betting line at Caesars sportsbook and setting up a pivotal third game in Miami as one of four games on the slate for Saturday, April 27.
The No. 1 team in the Western Conference is doing just fine in their first NBA playoff appearance since 2020. The Oklahoma City Thunder got the jitters out of the way with a 94-92 win over New Orleans in Game 1. OKC took command of the series with a dominant 124-92 win on Wednesday covering the 7.5-point NBA point spread. The teams move to the Big Easy for Game 3 with the Pelicans in desperate need of a victory. There are two other games on the Saturday schedule with both being a Game 4. Cleveland and Denver held serve winning twice at home with the Cavs a winning NBA pick against the spread in their tilts with Orlando Magic.

No sport has a bigger homecourt advantage than the NBA and that’s why you have to approach these games with caution. On the first day of the playoffs last Saturday, the home team won all four contests and covered the NBA betting line. That helped me win two legs of my four-team NBA parlay. And things were looking even better when the Knickerbockers and Philly went OVER the NBA odds total. However, I missed out on the big payday when the visiting Phoenix Suns were blasted my Minnesota.
I do think the Orlando Magic will turn things around on their home floor after dropping the first two games in Cleveland and not scoring more than 86 points The Magic had the third-most home wins in the Eastern Conference during the regular season and were the most profitable home team covering the NBA point spread in 67.5 percent of their games. And I don’t think Orlando can shoot the ball as poorly as they did in the first two games when they made only 34.3 percent of their field goals and 23.6 percent of their three-pointers.
Injured New Orleans forward Zion Williamson said a return to the court this postseason is “realistic.” However, it won’t matter if the Pelicans can’t win a game against the West’s No. 1 seed. With their leading scorer sidelined the offense stumbled scoring just 92 points in each of the first two games, both losses. What has me leaning toward the OVER is the return of Brandon Ingram after he missed almost a month at the end of the season. BI averaged nearly 21 points but totaled only 30 points in the first two games. He should have his legs giving the Pels a weapon alongside C.J. McCollum. The total will be relatively low and OKC’s efficient offense led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 33 in Game 2, should be enough to exceed the total.
The Heat got a jolt of confidence with their Game 2 upset of Boston earning the payout as a 14-point NBA odds underdog. Playing without Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier, Miami switched their plan after losing Game 1 launching 43 three-pointers and making a playoff record-tying 23. It’s hard to imagine them making 53 percent of their triples again, but like I said they’re a confident group catching 8.5-points on the early NBA betting line. They may not win but the Heat should keep it close.
LeBron James knows how to work the referees and his outburst following LA’s Game 2 loss got the attention of the officials. For a guy who gets to the free throw line as often as James he really shouldn’t say anything. Playing at home it’s time for the Lakers to get the benefit of the calls and they will, James especially, turning that into more points and a Lakers cover as my NBA best bet allowing me to cash a winning NBA parlay
