May 15, 2024New York Hits Almost $2 Billion in Sports Betting Handle in April
May 16, 2024Another positive showing made it three straight weeks that my MLB parlay picks took it to the man on a Saturday. Ranger Suarez continued his bid to win the NL Cy Young Award by tossing seven innings of shutout ball with 8 K at the Marlins to help lead the Phillies to the dominant 8-2 road win. Tarik Skubal added to his AL Cy Young Award resume by registering 19 outs against Houston to propel the Tigers to the 8-2 win which proved to be their lone win of the series. Unfortunately, the Reds prevented us from sweeping the board after dropping a 5-1 decision with Nick Lodolo on the bump. Let’s see if we can’t get all selections to the finish line at Caesars Sportsbook with another Saturday installment of parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Washington Nationals vs. Philadelphia Phillies MLB Same Game Parlay:
Though I recommended backing the Nats in the series opener as huge road dogs to Zack Wheeler, we’re reversing course in the second game of the series with left-hander Christopher Sanchez toeing the bump for the homebased Phillies. After leading Philly to just one win through six April starts, the southpaw has led the team to a pair of wins through two May starts without his best stuff after allowing 13 hits and 4 ER with a 10:5 K/BB ratio. Though the Nationals got to him for six hits and 3 ER with 3 BB and only 1 K back on April 7, Washington’s splits against righties and lefties have been extremely fluky. While batting .218 (#25) with a .635 OPS (#25) against LHP, they’re averaging a beefy 5.2 runs per game (#6) and stand 7-5 versus the MLB odds in those games. I’m not buying it!
Sanchez has been dominant in his home digs where he stands 2-1 with a 1.88 ERA and 29:7 K/BB ratio through 24.0 innings over four starts. Philly’s also come out on top each of the last two times he threw in front of the hometown faithful. Mackenzie Gore has been rock solid on the road and logged the win over Sanchez back in early April, but Citizens Bank Park has been nothing short of a nightmare for the left-hander who stands 0-2 with a 10.97 ERA with 4 HR allowed through two career starts. As hot Philly’s bats currently are, I expect fireworks from the home team!

San Diego Padres vs. Atlanta Braves MLB Same Game Parlay:
After squaring off against left-hander Max Fried in Friday’s series opener, San Diego’s offense will get to dig in against Bryce Elder in what I expect to be a more favorable pitching assignment. Atlanta’s righty has served up 14 hits and 9 ER with a 10:4 K/BB ratio over a pair of May starts dropping him to 1-1 with a 4.79 ERA and 4.92 FIP for the season. He’s currently serving up 11.3 hits and issuing 3.5 walks per nine innings which makes him one of the more hittable arms for Fernando Tatis Jr. and co. to take advantage of over the course of this wraparound series.
Yu Darvish on the other hand has been hurling like a man possessed dating back to early April with an IL trip sandwiched in between. He’s led the Padres to five straight wins and surrendered a total of 7 ER during that stretch which has amounted to 25 total innings of work. Through two road starts against the Dodgers and Cubs, the veteran stands 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and .189 batting average against. Having just thrown his most pitches of the season (101), the righty looks to be in a groove and the arm to target on the MLB odds in this matchup.

Detroit Tigers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Same Game Parlay:
Though Jack Flaherty let us down taking the loss in the 9-2 loss to the Astros in his most recent start, the veteran right-hander is still bringing the heat evidenced by the 7 K logged through his 6.2 innings of work. While Arizona has ripped the cover off the ball against left-handed pitching in averaging a healthy 6.6 runs per game (#1) and batting .306 (#1), it’s been a much different story against RHP with it only batting .219 as a team (#28) and averaging 4.0 RGP (#18).
Some extended rest looks to have done Zac Gallen’s body some good. Since having his late-April start skipped, the righty has tossed 12 innings of 2 ER ball with five hits allowed and 10 K logged to earn a pair of wins against the Reds and Orioles. He experienced a notable jump in velocity last time out in Baltimore, and was around the plate with all his offerings. It was a much better showing from Zona’s staff ace, and he’ll be in a position to thrive in his ninth start as well running up against a struggling Tigers offense that’s been extremely hit or miss over the last week. I’ll be banking on more miss than hit in this one!
