MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Thursday, May 23
May 21, 2024Charles Schwab Challenge Matchup Picks
May 22, 2024A pitching change limited last Wednesday’s MLB parlay picks to one moneymaking opportunity after Tyler Glasnow was pushed back to Thursday’s series opener against the Cincinnati Reds instead of closing out the series with the San Francisco Giants. Fortunately, we were still able to add to the bankroll after the Baltimore Orioles walked it off in the bottom of the ninth when Adley Rutschman reached the cheap seats to earn the O’s a split with their division rivals. Yusei Kikuchi also failed to exceed his total outs recorded prop earlier handing us an exciting two-leg SGP cash. We’ve been streaking on the diamond of late so let’s keep adding to the bankroll at Caesars Sportsbook with some Hump Day baseball betting goodness – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals MLB Same Game Parlay:
We’ve had a hand in a majority of starts made by both Tarik Skubal and Cole Ragans to this point of the year, so it only makes perfect sense that we’ll get involved when the strikeout artists match wits in the first 2024 standoff. The former remains the odds-on +200 favorite at Caesars to win the AL Cy Young Award having amassed a perfect 6-0 record with a 1.80 ERA and insane 66:8 K/BB ratio. The southpaw enters start No. 10 the owner of a sub 2.00 ERA for the month of May after conceding 14 hits (1 HR) and 4 ER through a trio of starts against the Yankees, Astros, and D’backs. Though a bit more hittable in day games (2.56 ERA) than at night (0.77 ERA), Skubal has been nothing short of spectacular away from Comerica Park where he stands 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA and .191 batting average against. He’s already tossed seven innings of 1 ER ball at the Royals this season, and save for Salvador Perez, has tamed current KC bats enough to think another 6+ inning penetration is in the cards. However, this will likely be a tougher assignment with Kansas City the second toughest team in the league to set down on strikes (18.8%).
Since the Royals only managed one win in his first five starts, KC has conquered the MLB odds four of the last five times Ragans took to the starting bump. Though he’s been gotten for a 4.19 ERA through three May starts, the Angels inexplicably touching him up for 7 ER through 6.1 innings skewed the stats. The lefty bounced back by tossing seven innings of shutout ball at the A’s with 7 K to get right back on track. Armed with a 15.6 swinging strike percentage (#15) and 30.6 called strikes + whiffs percentage (#34), Kansas City’s staff ace is bringing it with a vast array of offerings to get the job done. With Detroit’s struggling offense yet to see his stuff in 2024 and the team regressing mightily in May while the Royals have flourished, I expect Ragans to step up and lead KC to what could amount to the series deciding dub.

Atlanta Braves vs. Chicago Cubs MLB Same Game Parlay:
Times are tough on the Northside of Chicago right now. Injuries have gutted the Cubs, and because of it, Craig Counsell’s troops sit two-games under .500 against the closing baseball odds for the month of May (-$161). Coming off a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates in which the starting pitching struggled, save for Shota Imanaga, and the offense mustered 18 hits and 10 overall runs, MLB bettors are likely to gravitate towards Max Fried and the visiting Braves in the second game of this series; especially after Atlanta just handled Chicago in Truist paired with Justin Steele still knocking off the rust.
But that’s exactly just it! At some point, things will all fall back in line for the Cubs’ perceived staff ace entering the regular season. I get that it’s been ugly with the southpaw serving up 15 hits (5 HR) and 10 ER with a 12:4 K/BB ratio over 14.1 innings in his three starts since returning from the IL. However, he’s been nothing short of a rock star in the “Friendly Confines” where he stands 17-11 with a 3.21 ERA and 63:17 K/BB ratio in his career. He’s also undefeated through three career starts versus Atlanta. While both teams have thrived against LHP in averaging 4.8 runs per game, I expect a concerted effort to be put forth by the home team led by a determined Steele who I foresee rising to the occasion to churn out his best showing of the season.
