May 22, 2024Michigan Sportsbooks Post Excellent April Numbers
May 23, 2024The Washington Nationals thwarted our attempt to cash in on every parlay leg recommendation from last Friday’s MLB parlay picks. Paul Skenes got the day started off right after tossing six no-hit innings at the Cubs, while Kyle Hendricks got blasted as expected in his return from the IL. Though the aforementioned Nats plated two earned runs off Zack Wheeler to allow us to cash the over of his ER prop, they ultimately lost by a 4-2 final as +225 underdogs per the closing baseball betting odds. The night closed with the Astros scoring the 5-4 win over Milwaukee with Jeremy Pena and co. bouncing Freddy Peralta from the game before he could exceed his 17.5 pitching outs prop. We’re currently in the midst of a nice heater at Caesars Sportsbook, and will attempt to keep cooking heading into the weekend – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Atlanta Braves vs. Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Same Game Parlay:
Alright, so this Bailey Falter story is way past being categorized as obscene. Through three prior MLB seasons, the left-hander put forth an ERA north of 5.00 twice and routinely gave up 9+ hits per nine innings. Through nine 2024 starts, Falter sits 2-2 with a 3.53 ERA and career-best 0.980 WHIP while allowing a measly 6.5 hits per nine innings. While the control is on par from year’s past with him serving up 2+ walks per nine, his outrageous excellence in the most pertinent of counting stats has been saved by a ridiculously low .196 batting average on balls in play. His prior three seasons saw his BAbip clock in around .300. In other words, a heavy dose of negative regression is likely to be on its way.
I can’t think of a better offense to fade the lefty with in case it arrives Friday night than that of the Atlanta Braves. While Ronald Acuna Jr. and his mates were just humbled at home by San Diego, don’t for one second believe Falter has it in him to stymy this offense that sports an .765 OPS against LHP (#7) and stands 9-4 ($290) while scoring an average of 4.8 runs per game against starting left-handers. Regardless of not even knowing who Atlanta will send to the starting bump, I’ll confidently bank on the Braves’ bats showing out and let the regression monster do its thing leading to the team getting ahead in this series right out of the chute.

Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals MLB Same Game Parlay:
It’s Shota Time! That’s right peeps; the current +350 frontrunner to take home the NL Cy Young Award at Caesars will be on the bump Friday night with Shota Imanaga set to get his first taste of what the Cubs/Cardinals rivalry is all about. To say Chicago has gotten its money’s worth on the Japanese import through his first nine starts would be quite the understatement with the lefty 5-0 and the owner of a miniscule 0.84 ERA and 58:9 K/BB ratio. After opening eyes in April, Imanaga has taken it a step further in May leading the Cubs to wins in three of four made starts with all four outings of the quality variety. His absurd output isn’t going to last forever, but I still expect him to thrive in this spot running up against the Redbirds underperforming and aging batting lineup.
As rough a go it’s been for the injury ravaged Cubs, the offense will find itself in a position to thrive against its hated rival with Miles Mikolas serving up nearly 11 hits per nine innings all the while averaging 6.6 strikeouts per start. The right-hander’s success against the Cubs came to a crashing halt last season after getting peppered for 15 hits and 7 ER through three starts that went for a grand total of just 10.0 innings. The Cubs stand 22-17 against RHP ($730) and will enter this series opener a single game under .500 as visitors ($67). Dansby Swanson was just activated from the IL with Nico Hoerner also possibly back in the mix come Friday night. This is a huge game and series for Craig Counsell, and I firmly expect him to have his troops highly motivated to put their best foot forward and get a leg up in the series behind their staff ace.
