June 12, 2024U.S. Open Prop Picks
June 12, 2024The U.S. Open begins on Thursday with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler favored to win golf’s third major of the season. Scheffler has already won five times this season on the PGA Tour with one of those wins coming in the Masters. Scheffler is listed as a substantial favorite at Caesars with odds of +250. PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele is the second choice in the betting odds at +900, while Rory McIlroy is third with odds of +1100. I am coming off a 4-1 week with the matchups at the Memorial. Let’s look at U.S. Open matchup picks.

Defending Champion: Wyndham Clark
Tournament Notes: Pinehurst No. 2 is a par 70 that measures 7,548 yards. It is a very tough course where hitting greens in regulation is difficult. The course averaged 73.076 when it held the U.S. Open in 2014. The greens are different this time around, as the bentgrass greens have been replaced by Ultradwarf Bermudagrass.

Golf Matchup Picks
Brooks Koepka +110 vs. Bryson DeChambeau
I don’t get the love for DeChambeau this week. I know he has played better this season and he did well in the PGA, but I just don’t think his game suits this course. Pinehurst No. 2 is a course that is long, but it demands accuracy above everything else and DeChambeau is simply not a player I trust to keep it in the fairway. Koepka is that type of player and we know he rises up to the occasion in majors. I’ll take Koepka in this matchup.
Max Homa -120 vs. Jordan Spieth
Homa has played well in the first two majors of the season, as he tied for 3rd at the Masters and tie for 35th at the PGA. He is a player who thrives under pressure and this tough course will suit him. You never know what you are going to get with Spieth, so I’ll take Homa in this matchup.
Sungjae Im -110 vs. Russell Henley
Im has the type of game to do well on this course and he has played well for the most part this season and kind of gone under the radar. We’ll see if Henley has enough distance off the tee to do well this week. We know that Im is a precision player and Pinehurst demands precision. I’ll take Im in this matchup.
Sepp Straka -135 vs. Shane Lowry
Straka is a player who is very accurate off the tee and he proved last week that he can do well on tough courses, as he tied for 5th. He has three top five finishes and another three top 16 finishes since THE PLAYERS. Straka is starting to get some attention in the golf betting odds and I agree. I’ll take him in this matchup against Lowry.
Sahith Theegala -145 vs. Sam Burns
Theegala seems to be in the mix every week and he has two ties for 12th finishes in two of his last three starts. He was really good last week at the Memorial, as he was in the top five in a number of categories including GIR and Shots Gained: Tee-to-Green. I think it has been a disappointing season overall for Burns and I don’t see that changing this week. I’ll take Theegala in this matchup.Check out the latest U.S. Open matchup odds at Caesars.
