July 31, 2024MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Saturday, August 3
August 3, 2024We closed the week with a huge dud putting the kibosh on two straight days in the black after failing to cash a single one of the five recommended MLB parlay picks. Garrett Crochet failed to show up in what I thought would be his final start of the year as a member of the Chicago White Sox. Even more bothersome was the showing Cole Ragans put forth against the Chicago Cubs with the series on the line. BetMGM Sportsbook got the best of us, but we’ll look to return the favor as we close out another week on the diamond – SLAM YOUR MAN!!
Reduced juice betting is one of the best ways for any sports bettor to save money and far too many people don’t take advantage of it. If you are not playing at a sportsbook that offers reduced juice betting then you are simply giving away money.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Seattle Mariners MLB Same Game Parlay:
It was a bizarro night back on July 29 when Zack Wheeler and Logan Gilbert made their respective starts for the Phillies and Mariners. The former got tattooed to the tune of seven hits (3 HR) and 7 ER by the Yankees over five innings, while the latter only lasted 2.2 innings in Boston where the Red Sox peppered him for seven hits (1 HR) and 7 ER. Even with the showings, the right-handers rank out amongst the top-15 in overall ERA with over 100 innings pitched. I firmly expect each staff ace to bounce back nicely in this one which just so happens to be on a getaway Sunday with the Phillies set to invade Chavez Ravine next and the Mariners opening a three-game set with Detroit on Tuesday.
Wheeler’s pair of road starts in the month of July saw the righty concede a grand total of eight hits and 2 ER through 13 combined innings against the Twins and Cubs. For the season, Seattle is batting a wretched .219 against RHP and more disastrous .211 over the last month. On top of that, it’s gone down on strikes at an obscene 27.7% rate (#30). Philly’s offense has jumped the shark since the All-Star break with it batting .229 overall while slugging .383 (#21). While that will rectify itself at some point, I don’t figure it to be in this MLB odds spot against Gilbert who’s shined on his home bump pitching to a 2.89 ERA while holding the opposition to a .191 batting average against. With both hurlers getting peppered earlier in the week, look for each to bounce back and turn this one into a pitcher’s duel right from the opening pitch.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs MLB Same Game Parlay:
There was something in the air on July 30 as well, and it did something to Justin Steele. The Cubs right-hander has been notorious around MLB betting circles for keeping the ball in the yard and not issuing free passes. Neither of those strengths presented themselves Tuesday night when he served up his first long ball in five starts and matched a season-high in the walk department (4). Truth be told, walks have been an issue for the right-hander of late after allowing at least a pair in four of his last five trips to the bump. However, it shouldn’t rear its ugly head in this one against a St. Louis offense ranked 23rd in walk rate overall and 26th over the last month. Taking losses against the closing baseball betting lines in two of his last three starts, and this outing going down on Sunday Night Baseball against his team’s most hated rival, look for the Cubs supposed staff ace to rise to the occasion against a St. Louis team he’s 4-1 against lifetime with a 3.47 ERA over six starts.
Chicago gave their depressed fan base a glimpse of better things to come in the finale against the Reds by knocking out 17 hits and scoring 13 runs to avoid being swept at Great American Ball Park. We backed them in that game against lefty Nick Lodolo and will do so again tonight with Miles Mikolas on the mound. Chicago has faced the Cardinals’ mediocre right-hander three times this season, tagging him for 16 hits (4 HR) and 10 ER over 17.2 innings. Most of the damage came at Busch Stadium, so it’s high time they get after him at Wrigley, where he has a 3.46 ERA and a .239 batting average against through nine career starts. While his home ERA is 6.38, it stands at 3.89 on the road, which makes little sense to me. I’ll bank on some negative regression finally hitting in this spot and look for the home team to hang a crooked number en route to victory.
