August 7, 2024The Big 12 is going to look different this season without Texas and Oklahoma and with Utah as the favorite. The Utes enter the season as the favorites to win the Big 12 title in 2024 with odds of +275 at Caesars. Not far behind the Utes in terms of Big 12 title odds are the Kansas State Wildcats. Those two teams look to be the top two contenders, but other teams like Oklahoma State, UCF and Kansas are not without a chance. Also worth considering are Texas Tech, Iowa State and Arizona. There are plenty of darkhorse teams that could be in the mix for the Big 12 title and there are even a few longshots worth considering. Let’s look at Big 12 title odds and Big 12 title picks.

Utah Utes +275
Can you believe that Cam Rising is still at Utah? It seems like he has been there forever, but he is back again and that means the Utes can win the Big 12 if he stays healthy. That is a big if, as Rising seems to get hurt every year. Utah has a favorable schedule, but they do have to visit Oklahoma State in September in a huge Big 12 matchup.
Kansas State Wildcats +350
The Wildcats are going to be exciting on offense with quarterback Avery Johnson leading the way. He is joined by DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards in the backfield. The defense for Kansas State is also going to be really good. Kansas State has a real chance to win the Big 12 this season.
Darkhorse Contenders
Oklahoma State Cowboys +600
The Cowboys have Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon leading the way. The Cowboys did well last season in close games, winning five of six games decided by eight points or less. The Cowboys have a lot of returning starters and they should contend this year.
UCF Knights +750
Central Florida lost three games last season by a total of four points. If they get some good fortune this season they could be a contender. They got quarterback KJ Jefferson from Arkansas and RJ Harvey returns to lead the rushing attack.
Kansas Jayhawks +850
The Jayhawks will not have a true home stadium this season, as their home stadium is being renovated. They will play their six home games at Arrowhead Stadium. The Jayhawks need quarterback Jalon Daniels to stay healthy.
Texas Tech Red Raiders +950
Texas Tech could be a surprise team, as they feature Tahj Brooks at running back and a number of transfers on the offensive line. The Red Raiders should start strong with an easy schedule and that may give them enough confidence to get through the tough part later in the season.
Iowa State Cyclones +1000
The Cyclones have a lot of returning starters on both sides of the ball. Head coach Matt Campbell has done a great job and this could be a season where Iowa State contends for the Big 12 title.
Arizona Wildcats +1000
The Wildcats are moving to the Big 12 and they could contend with Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan returning. Arizona won their last seven games last season so they enter 2024 with a lot of confidence.
Longshots
There are three longshots worth considering in TCU, West Virginia and Colorado. TCU could be worth a look if quarterback Josh Hoover is healthy and all indications are that he is at full strength. TCU has a lot of offensive skill and if new defensive coordinator Andy Avalos turns the defense around, the Horned Frogs could be decent. West Virginia has a veteran roster led by running backs CJ Donaldson Jr and Jahiem White. The defense will need to be better if the Mountaineers are to contend. The Buffaloes still have Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter so they are not without a chance under head coach Deion Sanders. None of the other teams have any real chance, as Baylor, Houston, Cincinnati, Arizona State and BYU are going to struggle.
Big 12 Title Pick
I will take Kansas State to win the Big 12 this season. I don’t trust Rising to stay healthy for Utah and I like Kansas State’s offense better anyway. Oklahoma State could be worth a look as a darkhorse as they have a favorable schedule. Perhaps TCU is worth a look as a longshot, as they have a lot of returning talent.Make your college football bets right now at Caesars.
