MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Thursday, August 15
August 14, 2024CFB Futures – 2024 Virginia Tech Hokies Win Total Odds
August 15, 2024Week 2 NFL preseason action began on Thursday, August 15 with the Philadelphia Eagles beating the New England Patriots 14-13. There was a total of 13 games Saturday, August 17 and two more on Sunday, August 18. Starters played a little bit more for most teams, but the defenses still dominated most of the action. It was another winning week for us with the preseason parlay picks, as we hit one of our three parlays which meant a profitable NFL Preseason Week 2, and once again it was the underdog parlay that was a winner. Let’s look at how we did with our NFL Preseason Week 2 parlay picks.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Favorites Parlay Recap
We went with three parlays in NFL Preseason Week 2, a favorites parlay, an underdog parlay and a line moves parlay. The favorites parlay never had a chance, as the Raiders were beaten by the Cowboys. It was thought that the quarterback battle between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell would give the Raiders the edge, but neither one played well and the Raiders lost 27-12. The second half of the parlay was an easy winner, as the Broncos led from start to finish, routing the Packers on Sunday night by a score of 27-2.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Underdogs Parlay Recap
The underdog parlay hit for the second straight week, as we won with the Panthers plus the 3.5 against the Jets and the Vikings plus the points against the Browns. The Panthers lost 15-12 to the Jets in a game where both teams held out almost all of their starters, but Carolina covered the spread. In fact, both teams held out their starting quarterbacks and the primary backups, as Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor didn’t play and Carolina held out Bryce Young and Andy Dalton. The Jets went with Andrew Peasley and Adrian Martinez, while the Panthers gave the bulk of the work to Jack Plummer. The game was tied 3-3 at the half and the Jets led 15-6 with about three minutes left. The Panthers drove down the field and running back Dillon Johnson scored from the two-yard line as time expired to make the final 15-12.
The Vikings dominated the Browns in the other half of the parlay, winning 27-12. Nick Mullens, who is now the backup to Sam Darnold with J.J. McCarthy out for the season, threw a TD pass and third string quarterback Jaren Hall threw two TD passes, as the Vikings rolled.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Line Moves Parlay Recap
The line moves parlay had a good start, as the Bears dominated the Bengals, winning 27-3. Caleb Williams led two scoring drives for Chicago and Cincinnati held out their starters in a game that was never competitive. Logan Woodside and Rocky Lombardi were the two quarterbacks for the Bengals. The parlay failed when the Saints did very little offensively and lost 16-10 to the 49ers on Sunday night.
NFL Preseason Week 2 action gets underway on Thursday with the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the New England Patriots on NFL Network. It was a solid beginning for our NFL preseason parlays, as we hit one of our three parlays to pocket a small profit in Week 1. NFL Network will be televising a total of six games in Week 2, while FOX has their only game of the preseason, as they will show the Saints at the 49ers on Sunday night. One thing that is clear about NFL preseason action is that lines move a lot. News comes out about playing time for the starters and quarterback rotations and bettors pounce on the NFL odds. In the regular season NFL lines don’t move a great deal but with NFL preseason odds it is not unusual at all to see a line move more than three points. We won’t make any changes with the parlay format since we had success last week. Let’s look at our NFL preseason Week 2 parlay picks.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Favorites Parlay
Las Vegas Raiders -7 vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Raiders have a quarterback battle going on between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell and both should play a lot in this one. The Cowboys have no reason to play their starters long at all and Trey Lance did not impress as the backup last week. I’ll lay the points and take the Raiders.
Denver Broncos -7 vs. Green Bay Packers
The Broncos looked good last week with Bo Nix playing really well. The Packers gave Jordan Love a token appearance last week and he probably won’t play much more this week. I’ll lay the points and take Denver.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Underdogs Parlay
Carolina Panthers +3.5 vs. New York Jets
The Panthers were putrid last week but this week they are at home and they need to give their fans something to cheer about. The Jets aren’t playing Rodgers and their starters won’t play much. I expect Carolina to play better this week and get a win and we are getting more than a field goal.
Minnesota Vikings +3 at Cleveland Browns
The Vikings had a quarterback battle going on between Sam Darnold and rookie J.J. McCarthy but McCarthy is now out due to injury. Darnold will begin the season as the starter and now Minnesota needs to get a backup ready and they have a good one in Nick Mullens. The Browns are not expected to play Deshaun Watson this week and even though Cleveland has experience behind him, it is hard to get excited about Jameis Winston, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Tyler Huntley. I’ll take the points with Minnesota.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Line Moves Parlay
Chicago Bears -5.5 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bears opened as a 2.5-point favorite and the line is up to 5.5. Bettors are impressed with Caleb Williams who should get a little more playing time this week. Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati starters don’t figure to play much.
New Orleans Saints -2.5 at San Francisco 49ers
The Saints opened as a 1.5-point underdog and now they are laying 2.5 points. The Saints need a good outing from Derek Carr who did not play well in their preseason opener. The good news for the Saints is that rookie Spencer Rattler played well and is already putting the heat on Carr.
