With the Jets last dash hope of tying the game ending unceremoniously due to a mix-up between Mike Williams and his quarterback, our hopes of cashing the moneyline ticket on New York vanished into thin air. Week 6 NFL betting closes out under the lights of Monday Night Football with an intriguing AFC East showdown between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets in the first of two scheduled regular season clashes. Both teams are going through controversial times entering this pivotal tilt. The Bills lost a game in Houston last week in regulation in a game that likely would’ve concluded in overtime had Sean McDermott and his OC played their hand a wee bit differently. Each caught heat for the way that game was handed over to the Texans all week. As for the Jets, they went out and canned their head coach and offensive coordinator following a 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. Nothing to see here—just Aaron Rodgers once again stirring the pot.

The lookahead NFL odds for this divisional clash opened up with the Bills laying 1.5-points and the total lined 44. Both the side and total have undergone market corrections since being rereleased to the NFL betting public. Current action reports find over 85 percent of the bets and upwards of 70 percent of the money going the way of the visiting team, forcing a full 1-point move up to 2.5 at . Buffalo injuries have total bettors spooked. The number to beat is down three full points to 41 regardless of 78% of the bets and 53% of the handle on the over. These teams have split their season rivalry each of the last two seasons with the home teams holding serve each time. The under is in the midst of a five-game win streak.

You must not be a fan of the New York Jets if you came away shocked when hearing Robert Saleh was fired earlier this week. I felt it to be par for the course—nothing this franchise ever does makes sense. I’m not kidding. Personally, I felt last season’s showing was good enough to at the very least broach the topic of looking for a new head coach. I get that the offense didn’t have anyone worth their weight in salt under center, but the defense was still good enough to get that team—as it was assembled—into the playoffs. It had a full season of Breece Hall in the backfield and one of the best wide receivers in the game in Garrett Wilson. Certainly the coaching staff could’ve cooked something up to better take advantage of that duo’s talent. Nope! The Jets ranked in the bottom third of the league in every pertinent offensive stat category, and over time, the defense wore down due to shouldering the load every passing week.

Personally, the writing was on the wall for me as early as Week 1 when New York went into San Francisco and got rolled up and smoked 32-19 by the 49ers. I think Jordan Mason just ran for another 30-yard gain as I typed that. That showing was nothing if not despicable! How the heck did Saleh allow his defense to give up 147 rushing yards to CMC’s backup? Then after scoring a pair of wins and covers on the road at Tennessee and New England, the Jets return home and lay an egg against Denver in the rain. I get that the Broncos have a lockdown cornerback and excel against the pass, but 64 yards rushing on only 23 carries, in a constant downpour? Heck, Denver went for 126 on its 31 totes of the rock! Then last week’s travesty overseas in which Hall only got his number called nine times putting the onus solely on Rodgers’ back to lead the team back to victory. While his three picks played a role no doubt, so too did the play calling.

Bottom line, Saleh was let go due to not holding players accountable and doing absolutely nothing with the offensive side of the ball. Bringing Hackett back proved to be his demise. And don’t even get me started on McDermott and his staff- they’re clueless! All this is to say, I’m hitting the Jets on the moneyline Monday night. I feel they should be favored not only to win this game, but to also take home AFC East bragging rights (+325). Buffalo is a fraud and the franchise is cursed. Josh Allen will win nothing, and I mean nothing, with McDermott roaming his sideline. The Jets have held serve in low scorers each of the last two times they welcomed Buffalo into MetLife, and I foresee that exact scenario playing out once again tonight. Look for Hall and Braelon Allen to lead the team to victory by taking advantage of the Bills on the ground where they’ve been shredded for 144 yards per game (#25) and league-worst 5.2 yards per carry.
