UFC 272 Prop Picks
March 3, 2022Weekend NHL Picks – Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6
March 3, 2022Colby Covington is favored to defeat Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Oftentimes in UFC fights the two fighters will have a general dislike for one another, but many times it is a lot of hype. That is not the case at UFC 272, as Covington and Masvidal have an extreme hatred for one another. These two have had a war of words unlike any we have seen in recent years and Saturday’s main event should be interesting. Let’s look at UFC 272 picks.

Covington vs. Masvidal Odds
Covington is more than a 3-1 favorite to win this fight. There is very little value in taking Covington at the big odds, but there could be some value in taking Masvidal. Anytime you get two fighters who despise each other there is always a chance the underdog can get the win.
As far as length of fight goes, this fight figures to go for a while. The rounds are listed at 4.5 and the over is -155. Covington and Masvidal are tough to finish, so this could easily go to a decision.
When looking at method of victory, there are a lot of interesting props. If you want to take Covington but don’t want to lay the big price, you could choose one of the props. Covington is listed at -112 to win this fight by decision. If you see him getting a finish, you can get +210. The odds are even higher on Masvidal winning by decision or by finish, although if you think Masvidal is going to win you may be better off just taking the +265.
UFC 272 Picks
If you listen to these two fighters you might think that we will see a finish by one or the other, Covington said this to TMZ. “I see a lot of pain. I’m gonna inflict so much pain on Jorge Masvidal he’s not gonna be the same person ever again,” Covington said, “He keeps talking about a baptism. It’s not gonna be a baptism. It’s gonna be a funeral. It’s Jorge Masvidal’s career-ending funeral. It’s gonna be violent.” If you go further with what Covington said you will hear him saying that he doesn’t want this fight to end quickly. “And I’m not gonna finish it quick,” Covington said to the media, “I could easily finish it quick because I do it all the time behind closed doors we used to train. But this one, I’m gonna drag it out, I’m gonna make him suffer, and it’ll probably be the first time in UFC history you see a guy in the main event just verbally tap out and say he can’t take no more of a beating.” UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman said that he thinks both of these fighters will find it harder to take down the other than they expect. I agree with Usman and oftentimes when two fighters know each other really well there is not as much action as people expect.
There is no value in laying more than 3-1 on Covington. If you think he is going to win then you are better off playing the props. I am not sold Covington as a sure thing in this fight. Masvidal is tough and it is not out of the question to see him getting the win. I think the best choice is to play the rounds to go over the total, but I will take a small shot on Masvidal winning at +265.
