November 1, 2024Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions Recap
The Detroit Lions proved their resilience outdoors, beating the Green Bay Packers 24-14 in rainy Lambeau Field to cover what turned out to be a laughable 2.5-point spread and solidify their placement as both NFC North and Super Bowl LIX contenders. Kerby Joseph’s 27-yard pick-six less than 30 seconds after Detroit extended its lead to 10-3 proved to be the death knell for a Packers team that simply had no answers for what the division leaders packed with them for this pivotal divisional clash. Coach Dan Campbell praised his team’s versatility: “We’re built to win”—rain, snow, or mud. Jared Goff completed his first 11 passes, finishing with 145 yards and a touchdown, maintaining his historic six-game streak with an 82.8% completion rate. Goff connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown on fourth-and-goal, and Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for another fourth-down touchdown, pushing the Lions’ lead to 24-3 5+ minutes into the third quarter. The Packers, led by Jordan Love, gained 411 yards but were plagued by penalties and failed red-zone attempts. Despite Green Bay’s early 3-0 lead, Joseph’s pick-6 turned momentum. Detroit’s 7-1 start is their best since 1956, and fans loudly celebrated Goff’s leadership in hostile territory.
Never once were we in a position to cash that moneyline ticket in on the NFL odds with the Packers regardless of dramatically winning the yardage battle 411-261. Turnovers kill in these types of matchups, and the one Jordan Love committed made it even worse after it was taken the other way for six. In a game marred by Mother Nature, that lone score was almost good enough for Detroit to get out of dodge with the dub as horrific Green Bay proved to be on third down (3/12) and in the red zone (1/4). Thankfully, the game was never in a position to go over the 49-point total. Largely due to the rain with a dose of poor Green Bay offensive execution mixed in. We’ll take the split at BetMGM Sportsbook and look to recoup the loss next week!
Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions
The Week 9 betting slate presents NFL bettors a number of intriguing matchups to wet their respective whistles. One of them will go down on the “Frozen Tundra” of Lambeau Field where the Green Bay Packers will attempt to slow down the runaway truck that’s proven to be the Detroit Lions who enter the week’s festivities perched atop the NFC North standings after rattling off a fifth straight win and NFL odds cover at home against the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, Matt LaFleur’s troops have matched Detroit’s win streak with four of their own after outlasting a game prowl of Jaguars in a non-covering effort that saw Malik Willis come on in relief of Jordan Love and lead the Cheeseheads to victory. With Love being a full practice participant on Thursday, betting interest on the Lions has waned since the NFL spread got pushed up to 3.5 when it was believed Willis would go.
As it is, BetMGM Sportsbook currently has the game lined 2.5 with both sides of the impost getting action and the total down to 49 with the under taking in 80+ percent of the bets and 90 percent of the money. These division rivals split their pair of meetings a season ago after the Packers put an end to a four-game losing and coverless streak by going into Motown and handing the Lions a 29-22 defeat as 8.5-point Turkey Day underdogs.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers NFL Same Game Parlay:
Since only managing 62 points through their first three played games against the Rams, Bucs, and Cardinals, the switch has inarguably flipped for the Lions who’ve gone on to paste the Seahawks, Cowboys, Vikings, and Titans by the aggregate score of 172-81 to get out to 6-1 straight up and against the spread starts. Both sides of the ball plus special teams have lent a helping hand in the scoring barrage with all three facets of Detroit’s attack lending a hand in denting the scoreboard. Dan Campbell has a heck of a roster at his disposal with Jared Goff making sweet music through the air on limited pass attempts to Amon-Ra St. Brown and Co., while David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs form one of the more electric double-pronged batteries of any backfield in the league. It’s resulted in Detroit marching out the league’s No. 1 ranked scoring offense that’s lit the opposition up for north of 33 points per game.
Not to be outdone, the Packers have marched a formidable attack onto the gridiron themselves with it also of a balanced variety. Jordan Love overlooks the league’s ninth-ranked passing attack that averages 231 yards per game and hits paydirt through the air 2.3 times per match. Like Detroit, Green Bay disperses the pigskin to numerous pass catchers with the quadrant of Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks all doing their fair share of damage—and let’s not forget about Tucker Kraft with the tight end reeling in a touchdown reception in four of the Packers last five games. Unlike the Lions, its rushing attack is spearheaded by one back that comes in the form of Josh Jacobs who’s done an excellent job rushing for 667 yards and averaging 4.6 yards per carry. It’s amounted to the Packers marching out the league’s fifth-ranked offense every week that’s dented scoreboards for 27 points per game.
With each squad readily able to pull their weight offensively, the first meeting of the year between these hated rivals will ultimately come down to the performance of each respective defense. I’m giving the advantage to the home team in round one! As crazy as it sounds considering Detroit rates out well ahead of Green Bay in DVOA (#3 to #12), I’m expecting a heavy dose of negative regression to hit in this pivotal divisional spot with this being the first game the Lions partake in that won’t take place in a dome. Aaron Glenn’s defense is also yet to feel the absence of Aidan Hutchinson—it will today with Love and his mates fully capable of running circles around this pass defense much like it did last year when Love played to a 96.1 QB rating and threw for 514 yards and 4:2 TD/INT ratio. I love what Jeff Hafley has done with the Packers defense, and firmly expect his guys to make Goff turn into the pumpkin he normally transforms into when playing in outdoor venues. Mother Nature will also be playing a role with rain showers definitely expected throughout. Look for the Packers to defend their turf in a low scorer.
