December 20, 2024A huge NFC East clash headlines the Week 16 NFL betting slate with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders set to close out their season rivalry with playoff seeding on the line. Nick Sirianni’s squad enters this tilt red hot having rattled off ten straight wins after dominating the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-13 to catch the Detroit Lions atop the NFC standings. Dan Quinn’s troops needed to hold on for dear life in the bayou last Sunday, but still held onto the No. 7 seed by way of scoring the 20-19 NFL odds win over the Saints. BetMGM Sportsbook currently has the visiting Eagles installed 3.5-point favorites with the O/U lined 45.5 with action reports showing 70+ percent of the bets and 80+ percent of the money laying the road chalk with Philadelphia. Philly’s held the upper hand in the recent rivalry taking down seven of the last 10 meetings, but only stands 4-4-2 ATS in those matchups that saw the over pay off six times.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders NFL Same Game Parlay:
The Eagles money train remained on track at home last week with both sides of the ball contributing mightily to the one-sided win and NFL spread cover. Jalen Hurts was electric playing to a 125.3 QB rating by way of completing 78% of his passes for nearly 300 passing yards and a couple scores. He also added another 45 yards and a touchdown with his legs. Each of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith got in on the act with the duo combining for 19 receptions, 219 receiving yards, and both touchdowns. Due to converting 10 of 17 third down tries and moving the chains on its lone fourth down attempt, Philadelphia sucked the life out of the Steelers by holding onto the pigskin for nearly 40 minutes. When the offense wasn’t in possession of the ball, the defense clamped down on Russell Wilson and Co. holding Pittsburgh to 163 yards of total offense, 10 first downs, and 3 of 10 showing on third down. Doing that against a division leader clearly lets it be known that this Eagles team is firing on all cylinders heading into the home stretch of the NFL betting season.
Leading 20-7 at the outset of the fourth quarter, it looked like Jayden Daniels and his mates would cruise to the win and NFL odds cover at New Orleans. Then seemingly out of nowhere, the defense allowed a Spencer Rattler-led Saints offense score the game’s final 13 points. The Commanders needed to fend off an endgame two-point conversion attempt just to get out of dodge with the one point win in tow. The turn of events was simply inexcusable for a team just on the inside looking out of the NFC playoff picture! Against a Saints defense that rates out in the bottom third of the league’s rankings, Washington simply had no business combining for just 326 total yards of offense—especially with it owning a 20+ minute time of possession advantage and racking up 23 first downs while converting at a 55% clip on third and fourth down. Much more will be needed from Terry McLaurin and Brian Robinson Jr. for the Commies not to get laughed off their home field if they plan on evening the season series with the NFC East leaders.
When these teams met in Week 11, Washington controlled the game through three quarters, leading 10-6 and never trailing until Philadelphia took its first lead with 12 minutes left. Things unraveled quickly after that, as the Commanders’ defense gave up two Saquon Barkley touchdown runs in under 20 seconds, turning a tight contest into a blowout. Taking it in live, Washington’s offense appeared hesitant throughout, even while ahead—likely due to Daniels playing through a rib injury. This time, Daniels is fully recovered and has been playing at a high level in recent weeks. After facing tough matchups against the Steelers, Panthers, Ravens, and Rams over the last month, the Eagles’ defense seems primed for a touch of regression. There’s no better spot for that than here, with Washington seeking revenge on its home turf. With a playoff bid on the line, I expect the Commanders to deliver a maximum effort. Daniels and his offense should find ways to exploit the Eagles’ defense, posting a strong performance and giving Washington the edge to protect their home field and its keep postseason hopes intact.
