February 12, 2025UCLA at Indiana Same Game Parlay Recap
We didn’t have a lot of success on our college basketball same game parlay in the matchup between the UCLA Bruins and Indiana Hoosiers on Friday, February 14. The Bruins have had trouble on the road losing their first three Big Ten away games and failing to cover the college basketball betting line at Caesars sportsbook and they were coming off a setback earlier in the week at Illinois. Backing IU and the 2.5-points looked like the smart play, but it wasn’t since UCLA closed out a 72-68 victory.
The game turned into a nail-biter at the end with Indiana erasing a 13-point deficit and getting within 70-68 on a three-point play from Malik Reneau with under a minute to play in the second half. The Hoosiers had possession of the ball with a chance to tie the game or take the lead but Mackenzie Mgbako was off target on a three-point try. UCLA’s Dylan Andrews then sealed the game and gave the Bruins a cover making a pair of free throws with four seconds left.

Indiana couldn’t carry the momentum of an upset road win over No. 11 Michigan State a few nights earlier that broke a five-game losing skid. Of their last five losses four of them were by five points or less. We expected the point total to be low with a pair of strong defensive clubs and they cashed the UNDER of 140.5. IU played below the closing total in a fourth straight game while UCLA hit the under for the fourth time in five outings.
The Bruins used a balanced offense with nine players scoring at least five points, led by Tyler Bilodeau with 12. Skyy Clark (11) and Kobe Johnson (10) also reached double figures. Indiana did little offensively to help its chances shooting just 40.3 percent from the field and going 7 of 29 from behind the arc. Luke Goode had a game-high 16 points with Reneau and Mgbako adding 14 each. Leading scorer Oumar Ballo was held to nine points.
UCLA at Indiana Same Game Parlay Pick
It’s been a tough second half of the season for the Indiana Hoosiers, who have lost seven of eight games and a head coach. Mike Woodson announced he would step down at the end of the season, but that departure may be expedited by his team’s inability to win. The Hoosiers visit Michigan State on Tuesday before a showdown with the UCLA Bruins on Valentine’s Day. It’s been a different story for the Bruins, who take a seven-game winning streak into their Midwest road trip that starts against Illinois and ends Friday night in Bloomington. The Bruins defeated three ranked opponents during their streak while going 3-0-1 against the college basketball betting line at Caesars in their previous four games.

Four straight losses to Nebraska, Michigan, Maryland and Rutgers last month dropped the Bruins from the national rankings and ruined a start to the season that saw them win 10 of their first 11 games. They were able to turn things around starting with a 24-point win over Iowa that began their current run. More impressive was UCLA’s ability to take down quality foes including then No. 18 Wisconsin, No. 16 Oregon and most recently No. 9 Michigan State.
Five of their wins during the 7-game winning streak came at home, including all three against ranked opponents. The Bruins needed narrow wins over Washington and USC to get to .500 in true road games breaking a streak of three straight road setbacks where they failed to cover the NCAAB spread. Playing road games against traditional Big Ten competition hasn’t been favorable for the Bruins.
Defensively UCLA can cause problems. The Bruins boast a top 20 scoring defense allowing fewer than 64 points per game and they hound opponents into mistakes. They scored 24 points on 18 Penn State turnovers to win 78-54 before heading out on the road. The Bruins also dogged PSU into 38 percent shooting from the field and 5 of 21 from behind the arc. Oregon, Michigan State and Penn State combined to average just 55.7 points with the UNDER cashing in all three games.
Indiana played an inspired game after Woodson announced he would be stepping down at the end of the season. The Hoosiers lost their fifth straight falling to Michigan 70-67 on Saturday one day after the news broke. Unless something drastic happens the Hoosiers are heading toward a second straight season without a NCAA tournament appearance.
Slow starts have doomed IU this season and their outing with Michigan was no different. The Hoosiers trailed by 18 points late in the first half but regained their mojo in the second half clawing back to tie the score with a little more than four minutes left in the stanza. They couldn’t sustain the momentum and ran out of gas in yet another close setback. Three of their four losses during the losing streak were by 5 points or less.
Expectations were elevated with one of the best transfer classes in the country. Oumar Ballo has lived up to the promise averaging 13.7 points and 9.6 rebounds, but the team appears to lack chemistry and has had no success against better opponents. IU is 0-5 against teams that were nationally ranked at the time of the game and 2-3 ATS in those contests. I do think the Hoosiers will rally around their coach and at the same time take advantage of UCLA’s road troubles when heading east.
