April 14, 2022Minnesota Wild at St. Louis Blues NHL Preview and Prediction
April 14, 2022A welterweight rematch over five years in the making headlines UFC Fight Night: Luque vs. Muhammad on Saturday, April 16 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This fight card won’t come close to matching last week’s fireworks in UFC 273, but there are some good bouts on tap with UFC betting available for every fight on the 14-bout ticket. The prelims start at 5:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN+. The main ticket is slated to get underway at 8:30 p.m. ET with ESPN and ESPN+ providing television coverage.
Vicente Luque (21-7-1) and Belal Muhammad (20-3) square off for the second time with both fighters looking to secure a spot at the top of the list of welterweight contenders. A lot has happened since Luque KO’d Muhammad in the first round back in November 2016. Both fighters have been tough to beat since then raising their stock in the class. Luque is 10-2 since the first meeting finishing his last four opponents. He cashed his UFC betting ticket in the first round in his last two fights with submissions of Tyron Woodley in UFC 260 and Michael Chiesa in UFC 265.
A more methodical fighter, Muhammad has been just as successful posting 10 wins and a no contest in his past 12 scraps. He won his last two fights and is unbeaten in seven straight heading into Saturday’s rematch. Nine of his previous 10 wins were decided by the judges. Muhammad has been KO’d just once in his career, that by Luque in the first meeting. And that’s why “The Silent Assassin” is listed as the -180 favorite at Sugarhouse sportsbook. Their contrasting styles and rise as top contenders within the weight class make this an intriguing battle. And it’s safe to say both are much better at their craft then they were five years ago.
UFC Prediction: Vicente Luque / (T)KO
Two newcomers to the promotion make their way inside the Octagon for a welterweight clash in the co-main event. Unbeaten in 13 professional fights, Gadzhi Omargadzhiev is the UFC betting favorite at -140 in his bout with fellow Contender Series classmate Caio Borralho (10-1). Omargadzhiev secured his invite with a first round kneebar submission of Jansey Silva. Borralho, a +110 underdog at UFC betting sites, moved up in weight scoring a first-round finish of Jesse Murray last October to get the call. While they aren’t big names in the UFC just yet, both fighters have plenty to prove to UFC brass for getting the call.
UFC Prediction: Gadzhi Omargadzhiev / Decision
Four other fights make up Saturday’s main card. Two prolific welterweight strikers look to get back in the win column when Andre Fialho (14-4) takes on Miguel Baeza (10-2). After winning his first 10 professional fights, including three inside the Octagon, Baeza lost his last two. Fialho lost a unanimous decision to Michel Pereira in January on a short notice call up. He should be better with more time to prepare and looks like a good underdog pick at +143. Sugarhouse has Baeza as the -180 favorite.

Eight fights make up the preliminary ticket leading into the main card. The most anticipated bout features fan favorite Chris Barnett (22-7) taking on Martin Buday (9-1) in a heavyweight tussle. “Beastboy” got the call up last year after 27 professional fights and rebounded from his UFC debut loss by taking down Gian Villante with a spinning kick to the head setting off an epic celebration. Buday has battered opponents during a current 8-fight winning streak with seven (T)KOs and one submission. He’s facing the toughest opponent of his career in Barnett, but Buday is listed as the -235 favorite with Barnett at +183.
