PGA Championship Props

Golf’s second major of the season begins on Thursday with the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Whenever we have a golf major we get a lot of props on the board in addition to the normal odds to win and matchup odds. If you like to bet props there are a lot of chances to make money this week. From whether there will be a hole-in-one to whether there will be a wire-to-wire winner, and everything in between, there are a lot of PGA Championship props on the board at leading sportsbooks. Let’s look at a few of them and some PGA Championship prop picks.

Will there be a Hole-in-One?

Yes -110

No -125

This prop is available at SugarHouse and other leading online sportsbooks and the odds are basically even with the No a slight favorite. It seems like we get a hole-in-one on a regular basis in PGA Tour events, so there is no doubt the Yes will be a popular choice. It should be noted, however, that a number of players in the field are club pros and former PGA champions who have no chance to win and little chance to hit a hole-in-one. I think there is a little value on the No at -125 and it is a prop you may want to consider.

Wire-to-Wire Winner?

Yes +850

No -3000

This prop is available at DraftKings and there is no value in it. The No is the only way to go on this prop, as rarely do players go wire-to-wire in any tournament, let alone the PGA. The problem with this prop is that no one wants to lay -$3000 to win $100.

Big Guns vs. The Field

The Field -400

Big Guns +300

This prop at Draft Kings is interesting, as you get +300 on the quartet of Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy against the field. If one of those four players wins then you get +300. If you bet those four individually you get +1200, +1200, +1400 and +1800. There is obviously no value at all in betting the Big Guns in this prop, as you would be far better off betting them individually. If you bet this prop at all it would be to take The Field at -400, but I am not laying big money against those four golfers.

Winner in the Final Pairing?

Yes -250

No +175

This prop at DraftKings has me interested, as it seems lately in golf we have had a lot of players coming from behind to win. I would prefer to get more than +175 on this prop, so I may wait to see if a better price appears. I would definitely not lay the -250 on this prop.

Tournament Winning Margin

1 Stroke +200

Playoff +300

2 Strokes +340

4 Strokes or More +400

3 Strokes +600

If you want to roll the dice and try and pick the exact margin of victory then this prop is for you. The value on this prop is probably with the playoff and the 4 strokes or more. It is hard to see a lot of value in the exact number of 1, 2 or 3 strokes.

In addition to the above props you can also bet on things like the nationality of the winning player. It is worth noting that the last six PGA Championship winners have all been Americans. The odds seem fair on betting for an American player to win this event with the Yes at -143.

You can bet on players to make or miss the cut. The value on this prop is almost always on the not making the cut with some marquee players. For example, if you think a player like Patrick Cantlay will miss the cut you can get +300.
