October 19, 2022While the New York Jets look to be much improved, Zappe Hour is working in New England, and the Miami Dolphins have a win in the bag, it’s the Buffalo Bills that remain heavy favorites to take home AFC East bragging rights for the third straight season. Instead of looking to fade Sean McDermott’s squad on the futures odds to win this division, it might be time to figure out how to make some money on the other teams betting into other futures markets at BetRivers Sportsbook. Let’s dig into the current futures odds offerings and see if there’s anything worthy of investing in right now.

The time to buy into the Buffalo Bills winning this division ultimately proved to be before the regular season kicked off. Since blasting the Rams in Tinseltown the opening week of the regular season, Josh Allen and Co. have seen their odds go from -225 to -350 to -335 to -500 to -1000 after avenging last year’s playoff defeat to the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
With the team on bye in Week 7 and then getting the struggling Green Bay Packers at home the week after, futures bettors aren’t likely to get much of a discount moving forward. If your futures portfolio is without any shares of the Bills winning the division, AFC, or Super Bowl LVII, this exercise could go all for naught with Buffalo looking like the best overall team in the league by a country mile!

Man does it suck Tua Tagovailoa got knocked unconscious against the Bengals a few weeks back. With the 1-2 punch of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle continuing to excel with Teddy Bridgewater and Skylar Thompson running the show, this team had the ammunition to make a run at the division title. Buffalo would need to lose twice and then get swept in the season rivalry for the Dolphins to have a shot. Likely not happening…
While the defense leaves a bit to be desired, I still think this team has it in it to challenge for division bragging rights and at the very least a playoff bid provided Tua can remain in the huddle. BetRivers currently has the Miami Dolphins wins total lined at 9.5 with plus-money attached to the over. I already have an over 9 ticket in my possession, and would hit the over now. Ten wins likely lands a playoff bid, so it makes more sense to take back plus-money than to lay the -110 on Miami punching a ticket to the second season.
Over the next month, Miami will run up against Pittsburgh, @Detroit, @Chicago, and Cleveland. They’ll be favored to win each and every one of those games and head into the bye on an ultimate high. Getting three more wins throughout the back half of the schedule will be a chore, but I got faith Mike McDaniel finds a way.

Hopefully you listened and hit the over of the New England Patriots readjusted wins total when I last reported on the AFC East a few weeks back. It clocked in at 7.5 with +120 juice attached to the over. Since then, the Pats shut the Detroit Lions out 29-0 and followed it up with a 38-15 handling of the Browns in Cleveland. They’re current wins total is now 8.5 with -110 juice attached to both sides of the impost.
Now .500 overall and getting the Bears, @Jets, and Colts heading into the Week 10 bye, the odds of cashing that ticket in are looking pretty good right now!
What is Bill Belichick going to do once Mac Jones is ready to return to the huddle? The offense looks to have responded well to rookie QB Bailey Zappe, while the defense has kicked butt and taken names. I don’t mess with what’s working, but that’s just me. I haven’t won six SB titles.
Regardless, I still don’t think New England has the chops to threaten the Bills for the division title regardless of their odds plummeting from 50-1 to 18-1 since last reporting.

Never in my wet and wildest did I expect the New York Jets to be playing with house money entering the seventh week of the NFL betting season. That however is the case with Robert Saleh and the current coaching staff cooking something special up in New York.
After destroying the Packers in Lambeau, New York is well on its way towards cashing the over of its 6-game season wins total. That makes me very happy! However, the remaining schedule is horrific so I’m selling the Jets surpassing their readjusted 8.5-game in-season total and believe there to be value on the under of 8.5 regardless of the -139 juice. It’s a much less chalkier investment than betting “No” at -278 to qualify for the playoffs.
