NFL Week 16 Parlay Picks
December 22, 2022Sunday Night Football Picks-Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals
December 22, 2022My totals continue being the ultimate fade. Back-to-back O-fer weeks is pretty impressive! The only one that came close was the over in Philly/Chicago. The over in the Titans/Chargers game shockingly never stood a chance, while the under in Bengals/Bucs got killed due to a 20 point fourth quarter. I know you’ve been waiting patiently for three more to go the other way on over at BetRivers Sportsbook, so here they are – Tip your bartender if the streak reaches nine straight!
Bet Week 16 NFL Totals at BetRivers Sportsbook
DETROIT/CAROLINA UNDER 44
The Detroit Lions insane turnaround has been predicated around Jared Goff and the passing game tearing things up, and the defense shutting down opposing rushing attacks. Believe it or not, but Detroit is the owner of a top-10 passing attack that averages nearly 250 yards per game with Amon-Ra St. Brown the unit’s alpha. He’ll have his work cut out for him in this spot however running up against Jaycee Horn and the Panthers No. 13 ranked pass defense that’s only serves up a tick over 211 yards per game.
Carolina’s bread and butter offensively has been running the ball with the 1-2 punch of D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard getting the job done. The Panthers average 117+ rushing yards per game, but enter this tilt off a brutal showing against Pittsburgh in managing 21 total yards on 16 carries. While Detroit’s been feisty versus the run of late, I firmly expect Steve Wilks to get after it and attempt to control time of possession at all costs. With both teams fighting for their playoff lives, this has defensive grinder written all over it.
ATLANTA/BALTIMORE UNDER 35.5
Lamar Jackson likely won’t be returning to the Ravens huddle for this one after missing the week’s first three practices. That means it’s likely to be Tyler Huntley nestled back in under center once again, and Baltimore hasn’t exactly lit things up with him running the show. The last three games resulted in 10-9, 16-14, and 13-3 final scores. Even with Atlanta owning one of the more beatable defenses in the league, the Ravens have run out of playmakers. Devin Duvernay was the latest to succumb to the injury bug.
I expect J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards to get a ton of burn opposing Atlanta’s No. 21 ranked run D that clocks in at No. 26 in rush DVOA. More running equals more running clock, and that’s exactly what you want to see when investing on an under. That paired with the elements that call for 15mph winds on a balmy 1 degree day leads me to believe neither team hangs a crooked number on the board. So long as Desmond Ridder doesn’t allow for the Ravens defense to set up a number of short fields, we should be golden. I don’t foresee either team reaching the 20-point plateau in this one.
GREEN BAY/MIAMI OVER 49.5
With Mother Nature wreaking havoc on a number of games in Week 16, it’s going to be nice to see a pair of capable offenses take the field on Christmas Day with the sole intent of putting on a show. While we’re getting the worst of the number with the O/U initially hitting the board 46.5, I still think there’s plenty of wiggle room with the current impost and still think the number to beat is short with Aaron Rodgers set to square off against Tua Tagovailoa with both teams badly in need of a win. That should have each offense bringing their “A” game to the ball yard Sunday afternoon.
The Fins just wrapped the toughest part of their schedule running up against the 49ers, Chargers, and Bills all away from Hard Rock Stadium. They only managed 17 points in the first two skirmishes, but the offense looked more like itself last week in putting 29 on the board against Buffalo. Losers of three straight, I fully expect Mike McDaniel to have his troops locked in and ready to go full bore against what I deem to be a very beatable Packers defense. I’m interested to see what Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have in store for the Packers supposedly No. 2 ranked pass defense. On the flipside, Rodgers is going to have a field day picking apart Miami’s 27th ranked pass defense. This should be a back and forth affair that soars past the number!
