NFL Week 17 Running Back Player Prop Bets
December 30, 2022NFL Week 17 Wide Receiver Player Prop Bets
December 30, 2022This has been a year to forget for the Florida State Seminoles and head coach Leonard Hamilton. FSU is out to an abysmal 4-10 start, and the Seminoles seem likely to post their first losing season under Hamilton in 18 years. Hamilton is by far the most successful coach in program history and has done a ton to turn things around over his two-plus decades in charge, but FSU went 2-9 in non-conference play and will probably be uncompetitive in the ACC this year. That doesn’t bode well for the Seminoles’ chances when they face the Duke Blue Devils on New Year’s Eve.
There won’t be CBB betting odds for this tilt between the Duke Blue Devils and Florida State Seminoles until Friday night, but you can expect Duke to be a sizeable favorite by the basketball betting line. This game will take place on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2 from Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

Florida State Seminoles at Duke Blue Devils Preview
No one knew just what to expect from the Duke Blue Devils and new head coach Jon Scheyer after he took over for arguably the greatest head coach in the history of college basketball. Mike Krzyzewski left enormous shoes to fill after leading Duke to five national championships and 13 Final Four appearances. Coach K walked away with a whopping 1,202 wins in 47 seasons as a head coach, and he retired with over 200 wins more than any other coach.
The jury is still out on Scheyer (and will be for years), but he is off to a solid start in his first season as the head coach of this program. Duke is currently 10-3, and two of its three losses were against top five teams Kansas and Purdue on neutral courts. The Blue Devils are currently ranked 16th by Ken Pomeroy’s numbers, and they are second in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage.
Freshman center Kyle Filipowski is the go-to guy for Duke. Filipowski was one of four five-star prospects that Duke landed in the last cycle, and he has established himself as the main scoring threat on the Blue Devils. He is averaging 14.4 PPG and 8.9 RPG, but he is making just 41.8% of his field goals.
Dariq Whitehead and Dereck Lively II were rated higher than Filipowski by 247 Sports coming out of high school. Whitehead appeared to be finding his footing before suffering an injury three weeks ago, and his status is in doubt for this game. Meanwhile, Lively just hasn’t played the big minutes you might expect from a five-star recruit, averaging 17.6 MPG. He is posting just 4.4 PPG and 3.7 RPG, leading to upperclassman Jeremy Roach being the anchor of the team. Roach is averaging 12.8 PPG and 3.4 APG. Mark Mitchell is the top performing player by means of efficiency, as he is knocking down 51.6% of his field goals and 45.8% of his threes while averaging 9.8 PPG.
Florida State signed the 18th best class in the last cycle per 247 Sports. The Seminoles didn’t have a five-star prospect for the first time in a while, but they had three Top 100 recruits. Hamilton loves to recruit big men and always has a lot of size on the roster, so it’s been incredible to see this team struggle so much on the glass. They are one of the worst defensive rebounding teams in the country, and that played a huge factor in losses to bad teams like Stetson, Troy, and Siena.
Darin Green Jr. and Matthew Cleveland are the leading scores on FSU, and they have both been efficient shooters. Green and Cleveland are averaging 13.7 PPG apiece and hitting better than 42% from beyond the arc. No one else for the Seminoles is making over 35% of their threes, and that’s been an issue.
The biggest issue is that this team has seemingly forgotten how to play defense. Hamilton’s defenses have been great during his time in Tallahassee, but this is not even a Top 150 unit per Ken Pomeroy at this point of the season.
Florida State Seminoles at Duke Blue Devils Prediction
Although Florida State might be turning the corner with three wins in its last four games, none of those wins were against Quad 1 teams. Duke has the potential to score 80+ on FSU and cruise to an easy victory on Saturday.
