January 13, 2023What States Will Talk the Talk or Walk the Walk in 2023?
January 16, 2023Another week of college hoops betting is upon us and I can’t wait to dig into all the action! I’ve been pretty locked in on the college hardwood with the season now in the thick of conference play. While still early in the college basketball betting season, I’ve got a good handle on the haves and the have nots and hope to help build your bankroll over at PointsBet Sportsbook for when March comes around. The following are five investments that you can confidently throw into your parlay cards on Super Tuesday!

Kansas Jayhawks vs. K-State Wildcats
Date and Time: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 7 PM EST
Location: Bramlage Coliseum, Manhattan, Kansas
TV Coverage: ESPN
The Kansas Jayhawks remain the only undefeated in Big 12 play after escaping Oklahoma and Iowa State this past week. They went off the board 9-point favorites on average yet only won both games by a combined six points. Bill Self’s kids continue to get the job done in the W/L department (16-1), but they’ve proven to be a detriment to bankrolls in going 7-10 ATS overall and 2-4 ATS in their last six games. Kansas State just saw its nine-game win streak and four-game cover streak snapped at TCU in a tough 82-68 loss to a rock-solid Horned Frogs outfit. I think this is a reality check week for my beloved Crimson and Blue. K-State possesses the perimeter defense (No. 44) to make things tough for Gradey Dick and co. and their offensive rebounding prowess (No. 58) will give Markquis Nowell and his mates numerous second looks against a KU edition that leaves a bit to be desired on the glass (No. 155).
Hate to say it, but K-Suck ends its seven-game losing streak in the recent rivalry on Tuesday night!
BET THE WILDCATS
Tennessee Volunteers vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Date and Time: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 7 PM EST
Location: Humphrey Coliseum, Starkville, Mississippi
TV Coverage: ESPN2
Tennessee enters this tilt off a tough 63-56 loss to Kentucky as decided 11-point home favorites. Most college hoops bettors will be quick to forgive Santiago Vescovi and his mates for that slip-up and look to immediately back them in this rematch with Mississippi State; especially after making minced meat of the Bulldogs in Thompson-Boling Arena back on January 3. Tennessee won that tilt 87-53 and covered the 10-point spread with ease by way of draining 12 3-pointers and destroying the Dawgs on the glass (34-15). It was 46-22 at the break which allowed the Vols to play prevent defense the rest of the way.
I don’t foresee that occurring in the rematch. Miss State owns KenPom’s No. 7 ranked defensive efficiency with Alabama the only team to score more than 66 points against them at home (78). Points will be much tougher to come by Tuesday night. I’ll be targeting the under for both the first half and full game.
BET THE UNDER
Texas Longhorns vs. Iowa State Cyclones
Date and Time: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 8 PM EST
Location: James H. Hilton Coliseum, Ames, Iowa
TV Coverage: ESPN+
The Iowa State Cyclones have been nothing short of a goldmine for college hoops bettors to this point of the season with T.J. Otzelberger’s kids racing out to a 13-3 record that’s seen them cover the closing betting line at an 11-5 ATS clip. I backed them plus the points in the Phog on Saturday and lived to tell about it after giving the Jayhawks all they could handle before falling by a bucket as 7.5-point dogs.
I think they’re in-line to drop a second straight on Tuesday night against a Texas squad that looks to be rounding into form with the Chris Beard drama now in the rearview mirror. Much like Kansas, the Horns have proven to be bankroll killers but enter this tilt having won nine of 10. The Longhorns ability to dominate in the paint (No. 9) is going to be an issue for the home team. It’ll be an uphill climb should Marcus Carr and co. get Osun Osunniyi and Robert Jones into early foul trouble!
BET THE LONGHORNS
Clemson Tigers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Date and Time: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 9 PM EST
Location: Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Winston-Salem, North Carolina
TV Coverage: ACC Network
Brad Brownell has got Clemson firing on all cylinders right now with the Tigers sitting atop the ACC standings with a perfect 7-0 record. Four double-digit scorers are anchored by Hunter Tyson whose 15.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game have in line for first-team ACC honors. Even so, I’m having a hard time buying into this team.
Negative regression is bound to hit and I think it starts Tuesday night in Winston-Salem against a well-coached Demon Deacons outfit. Steve Forbes’ kids got pounded by 20 points in a game it led 33-26 at halftime in their ACC opener with the Tigers. Deacs’ leading scorer Tyree Appleby had a night to forget after only scoring eight points on 3 of 13 shooting. Wake Forest couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn in that one! Coming off that that big win over Duke this past weekend, I think the Tigers enter this spot a bit too fat and happy. Look for the home team to take full advantage!
BET THE DEMON DEACONS
Nevada Wolfpack vs. Boise State Broncos
Date and Time: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 9 PM EST
Location: ExtraMile Arena, Boise, Idaho
TV Coverage: Local
First place in the Mountain West Conference will be on the line Tuesday night when Kenan Blackshear and the Wolfpack run up against Marcus Shaver Jr. and the Broncos. Nevada wasn’t expected to be a conference title contender entering 2022-23, but alas Steve Alford has got his kids atop the standings through six played games. On top of that, Nevada clocks in a lucrative 12-4-2 against the closing CBB betting odds. It’s also got a 74-72 win over Boise State under the belt!
Since suffering that tough defeat, Boise State has rattled off four straight wins by an average of 15.2 points per game. One of the reasons why has been the ascension of Max Rice. Since putting forth his lowest scoring output of the year against Nevada (2 points), he’s averaged 14.5 points per game and been a steadying force within Boise’s attack. Even in defeat, the Broncos outboarded the Wolfpack 32-25. They own an enormous edge on the glass and own by far the better of the two defenses (No. 10). Look for some home cooking to afford Leon Rice’s kids the opportunity to even the series up with a win by margin.
