The Kansas City Chiefs ousted the Jacksonville Jaguars by a 27-17 final score with the 10-point final margin of victory pushing against the closing NFL odds. This game is going one of two ways. The Kansas City Chiefs win it by double-digits or they lose outright. There won’t be any in between. How the game is wagered upon depends on how you look at the matchup. Will the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-30 comeback win over the Los Angeles Chargers fuel them towards another playoff victory, or will the team’s collective engine be running on fumes once all the adrenaline wears off? You know I’m of the belief the former plays out on Saturday afternoon if you’ve followed my stuff all season.

Yes, Andy Reid’s squad earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Yes, Patrick Mahomes helped lead the Chiefs to 14 regular season wins. However, the team only managed to go 5-11-1 versus the closing NFL odds and benefitted from taking advantage of what surprisingly turned out to be an extremely weak AFC West. I haven’t been sold on the Chiefs all season, and have stated as such with every article written about the Super Bowl LVII futures odds. I took fliers on 12 teams to win the Lombardi Trophy this season and the Chiefs weren’t one of them.

Whether it ends up being this week or the next, Kansas City won’t be the last team standing. I so want it to be this week! Jacksonville gets the benefit of being familiar with the surroundings having already ventured into Arrowhead Stadium once this season. Though it won the turnover battle 3-0, it wasn’t able to do enough with the extra possessions. Its best bet here is to slow the game to a crawl and do whatever possible to minimize the damage No. 15 is able to do. If it does that, I believe Trevor Lawrence remains undefeated on Saturdays. No pussyfooting around here – we’re going all in!

New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles

You know the saying about it being tough to defeat a team three times in the same season? Yeah well, I’m not going to spew that garbage. It’s not hard! Just score more points than the opponent and you’ll get it done. Going by both regular season meetings, the Philadelphia Eagles look to be in line to do just that after having their way both times. The first go-round saw Jalen Hurts HAM for 294 scrimmage yards and 3 TD while the defense sacked Daniel Jones an absurd seven times in a 48-22 blowout. The second go-round saw No. 1 and his mates build up a big first half lead before coasting in the second half to secure the 22-16 non-covering win.

Something tells me this third run-in will play out just a bit differently. While I get it was the Minnesota Vikings, but New York looked every bit the part of a dark horse Super Bowl contender in both matchups. Yes, I’m including the 27-24 walk-off loss back in week 16. “Danny Dimes” looked every bit of being locked in as last week’s stat line suggests after combining for 381 scrimmage yards and 2 TD. Maybe even more important was Saquon Barkley looking to once again have a spring back in his step. No. 26 will play a crucial role on Saturday night as he looks to take advantage of a run defense (No. 16) that seems to be the Achilles heel of a stout Eagles defense.

The kicker for me here is the amount of injuries the Eagles are currently dealing with. Though everyone from Lane Johnson to Robert Quinn to Josh Sweat is expected to give it a go, they’re all still banged up. It also doesn’t look like Avonte Maddox will be able to give it a go. And let’s not forget about Hurts’ shoulder injury. One good pop and it could be the Gardner Minshew show. The New York Football Giants enters this tilt the much healthier of the two teams and is playing with extreme confidence right now. If Dexter Lawrence and the other guys up front can limit Philly on the ground, they’ll be in a great position to not only cover the inflated spread for a divisional playoff game but also win it outright!
