Sunday College Hoops Parlay Legs
January 20, 2023NHL Picks – New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs
January 23, 2023The wild-card round is in the rearview mirror with the San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dallas Cowboys all punching tickets into the next round. I cooked up pathways for four players to potentially win the MVP Award of Super Bowl LVII last week, and unfortunately only one of those recommendations found his way into the Divisional Round – that being the QB1 of the Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow. While his effort against the Baltimore Ravens wouldn’t have been worthy of even being considered had it been the big game, we haven’t heard the last of Joey Brrrr. It also helps that we got the best of the number heading into Sunday’s throw down with the Bills. Win that game, and we will have secured some solid line value.
Save for Daniel Jones and Trevor Lawrence’s insane second half, NFL bettors are yet to see any true breakout playoff performances. Let’s see if we can’t cook up some more scenarios that put some of these guys on a path towards cashing in on the Super Bowl LVII MVP Odds at BetRivers Sportsbook.

Trevor Lawrence +4000
If Trevor Lawrence goes into Arrowhead and leads the Jaguars to an outright victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, Jacksonville’s QB1’s mug will be plastered on the front page of sports sections across the world. While the former No. 1 draft pick looked lost through the first 25+ minutes of his first playoff start, Trevor Lawrence bounced back in a big way over the final 35 matching those four 1H interceptions with four touchdown passes.
Though he didn’t throw for the yardage you’d expect with 29 completions against KC in the first meeting, he still completed 72.5 percent of his passes and finished with a 2:0 TD/INT ratio. The Chiefs pass defense has been beatable (No. 18), so the opportunity will be there for the kid to shine – especially if Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Marvin Jones Jr., or Evan Engram has one of their blowup games.
Saquon Barkley +8000
Daniel Jones had an exceptionally fun time picking apart the Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts in each of his last three starts. SKOL simply had no clue how to limit him be it be land or by air in both meetings. The going is expected to be much tougher on Saturday night running up against an Eagles stop unit that completely shut opposing passing attacks all season long. He only managed to throw for 169 yards and 1 TD in his lone start against Philadelphia to date, and most of that output was accrued with the game well out of hand.
But as good as Darius Slay and co. have been shutting down the pass, the stop unit as a whole has been much more charitable to opposing running backs. Saquon Barkley has been playing like a man possessed having combined for 100+ yards in three of his last four starts. The GMEN will need their excelled RB1 to make hay unlike he did in the first meeting. His odds will get slashed should he show out and lead NY to victory!
Stefon Diggs +2200
Early in the first quarter of last week’s game against the Dolphins, it looked like Stefon Diggs was going to singlehandedly lead Buffalo to an enormous win by margin. Then after the first quarter expired, No. 14 more or less disappeared. While he still went on to surpass the century mark in receiving yards to cash the over of his receiving yards prop, the effort came away as a bit of a disappointment. A tough challenge lies before him Sunday afternoon in the form of a Bengals pass defense that’s really turned up the intensity in recent weeks. Even so, pass defense hasn’t been the stop unit’s strength (No. 23), and big games are when big time players are expected to strut their stuff.
While tough to envision Diggs going HAM is enough to win the award over the guy throwing him the ball, you never know…
Micah Parsons +6600
We haven’t seen a defensive player take home the Super Bowl MVP Award since 50 when Von Miller pulled off the feat in the Denver Broncos dominant 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. If ever there was a player that could end the six-year drought, it would be none other than Micah Parsons who was literally a one-man wrecking crew in Monday night’s handling of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This dude simply plays at a level all to his own. He’s a disruptor with a high motor that must be taken into account every passing snap.
Miller got the job done with six tackles, 2.5 sacks and a pass defensed. That almost feels like a regular day at the office for No. 11. If Dallas somehow manages to put itself in a position to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in spite of their head coach, Parsons will undoubtedly be listed amongst the favorites to take home the award. Take a flier now just in case!
