January 30, 2023Boxing Picks – Emanuel Navarrete vs. Liam Wilson
January 31, 2023The scenery this week will be spectacular at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but the field really won’t be. Only three of the World’s Top 20 ranked players are in the field, led by Matt Fitzpatrick at No. 10. Fitzpatrick is the second choice in the betting odds at +950, behind Jordan Spieth who is listed at +900 at BetRivers. Viktor Hovland is the other player ranked in the Top 20 and he is the third choice in the betting odds at +1000. No one else in the field is listed at odds of less than +2000. We picked up a nice win last week on Max Homa at odds of +2000. Let’s look at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am picks.
Venue: There will be three courses used for this event and the cut will not occur until after the third round where the top 60 and ties advance to Sunday’s final round. The three courses are Pebble Beach which is a par 72 that measures 6.972 yards, Spyglass Hill which is a par 72 that is 7,041 yards and Monterey Peninsula Country Club which is a par 71 that measures 6,957 yards.
Last Year: Tom Hoge notched his first PGA Tour win in his 203rd PGA Tour start. He finished two shots ahead of Jordan Spieth. Beau Hossler finished in third place, while Patrick Cantlay and Troy Merritt tied for fourth.

Favorite
Spieth, Jordan +900
The favorite didn’t come through last week, as Jon Rahm finally cooled off a bit. This week it is Jordan Spieth in the role of favorite and I am not backing him at this number. Spieth has had success at Pebble Beach in the past, but he is still not in the category of a player I can back at single-digit odds.
Value Picks
Hoge, Tom +2000
The field this week really isn’t that good and although I don’t normally take defending champions, I have to give Hoge a shot. He is playing well this season with a number of high finishes and he is actually the fifth-highest ranked player in the field this week. We know he loves Pebble Beach and there is no reason he can’t contend and win this event again.
Power, Seamus +2000
This is a good spot for Power who does well on short courses. He is also helped by what is really a weak field. His two wins on the PGA Tour were against weaker fields in the Barbasol in 2021 and last year’s Bermuda Championship. Over half of Power’s best finishes have come on coastal courses. I’ll take shot with Power this week.
Andrew Putnam +2500
Another player who likes shorter courses is Putnam and he comes into this event in good form with a solid finish at The American Express. Putnam has played Pebble Beach better each time and this could be the year he gets the win.
Joel Dahmen +4500
Dahmen will be playing for the first time in the calendar year, but he did well at the end of last year and comes into this week with some confidence at Pebble Beach, as he has finished 6th and 14th here. I think Dahmen has some value at these odds.
Nick Taylor +6600
You might not even realize that Taylor has won this event in the past. He finished 7th at the Sony Open recently, so his form is decent. Taylor has won twice on the PGA Tour and it is not out of the question that he wins again this week on a course he likes.
Russell Knox +7000
I know that Knox hasn’t played that well of late, but he does well on short courses and we know he likes Pebble Beach with three Top 20 finishes in his last five starts in this tournament. He could be in the mix this week at big odds.
