SEC CBB Futures Odds Betting – One to Buy, One to Sell
February 17, 2023Big 12 CBB Futures Odds Betting – One to Buy, One to Sell
February 17, 2023Last I reported on the Big 12 college basketball futures odds, I recommended making some beer money investments on K-State and TCU at the current offerings. Each has since gone into the tank with the latter no longer offering up odds at BetRivers Sportsbook. I did however recommend a full unit investment on Baylor at 8-1 with the schedule opening up very nicely to start the month of February. Well, Scott Drew’s troops made that call look genius with the team rattling off four straight wins and covers to catapult itself back into the title chase.
Only six teams currently offer up odds to win the regular season Big 12 title with five games remaining on every team’s docket. The Kansas Jayhawks are the current -106 odds-on favorite to win it for the second straight season and eighth time in the last 10. It’s hard to argue with backing Bill Self’s squad right now with Gradey Dick finally coming into his own as a premiere offensive threat.
But who likes betting on chalk? Here’s one to buy and one to sell in the Big 12!

BUY: Kansas State Wildcats +7000
Though Kansas, Baylor, and Texas sit atop the current standings in a three-way tie for bragging rights, it’s the Kansas State Wildcats that I’m eyeing due to a fantastic rate of return. More importantly, Jerome Tang’s kids possess by far the easiest remaining schedule of all the teams still in it to win it. While Markquis Nowell and Co. must oppose Iowa State and Baylor in their next two games, they get the benefit of doing so in the comforts of the “Octagon of Doom” where the team stands a moneymaking 12-1 SU and 9-4 versus the college basketball odds overall.
The Wildcats will then close their respective campaign out @Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and @West Virginia. It’s already got one in the bag against the Cowboys and Mountaineers, and will be looking to settle the score with OU who just handed them an embarrassing 79-65 defeat in Norman. Having last taken a share of the B12 regular season title back in the 2018-19 season along with Texas Tech, I firmly expect Keyontae Johnson and his mates to put forth a furious charge towards seeing it all the way through and possibly bring a championship back to Manhattan. If you ignored my advice a few weeks back and didn’t invest in the Wildcats, I’d give some strong consideration towards doing so now with the schedule putting it in a position to earn that No. 1 seed in the upcoming B12 tournament.
SELL: Iowa State Cyclones +1600
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are the bonafide no-brainer sell in this conference with it the least of the bunch and still having games remaining @TCU, @West Virginia, K-State, Baylor, and @Texas Tech. However, it’s T.J. Otzelberger’s Iowa State Cyclones that I’ll instead recommend to fade at the current offering regardless of it clocking in right behind the leading trio atop the standings. Three of the Clones final five matchups will take place away from Ames where it’s only managed one fluke win at TCU through seven overall tries (2-5 ATS). It even got handled by Mizzou in the Big 12/SEC Challenge!
Making it an even steeper uphill climb to garner conference bragging rights is the fact that all three matchups come against Kansas State, Texas, and Baylor; three teams that’ve dropped a grand total of six games in front of the hometown faithful to date. It also defeated each and every one of those opponents in the Hilton Coliseum which means the Wildcats, Longhorns, and Bears will all be seeing same season revenge while at the same time looking to improve their chances of winning the title. As much respect I have for Gabe Kalscheur and Jaren Holmes, each has simply been unable to excel the way they have when playing in front of the hometown faithful. Because of it, I’m selling shares of ISU at the current offering!
