NHL Betting – Thursday Parlay Picks

Last week was just a warmup on my National Hockey League parlay picks, and it’s a good thing since three of my four selections were losers. Thankfully I didn’t throw down on those picks because it would have been a losing proposition. With a week under my belt and closer diagnosis of the teams and players I’m ready to make some money on my NHL picks betting parlays at BetRivers sportsbook.

There’s a good slate of games to pick from on Thursday, February 23, including an ESPN game between Pacific Division rivals Calgary and Vegas at 9 p.m. ET in Sin City. And with the trade deadline inching closer we could see some changes by the time the puck drops. The Rangers got things started adding Vladimir Tarasenko and the Islanders committed to a playoff push with the acquisition of Bo Horvat. And we saw the St. Louis Blues continue waving the white flag dumping captain Ryan O’Reilly just days after sending Tarasenko to Broadway.

Boston Bruins at Seattle Kraken

This might be the game of the night and unfortunately a national audience doesn’t get to see it. The Bruins are on a historic pace with 43 wins and just eight regulation losses in 56 games. They’ve outscored opponents by nearly 100 goals and have a 15 point bulge in the Atlantic Division standings. One of those rare setbacks was to Seattle, 3-0, last month. However, the Kraken have cooled considerably since a hot start with a shutout loss in San Jose on Monday dropping them to 6-7-2 over the last 15 games scoring two or fewer goals in eight of those contests. Following a mini-slide that saw them lose four of five games, the Bruins are back on track with a 3-1 win over Ottawa on Monday their fifth straight. Seattle is a good story in its second season, but the Bruins are seemingly on a mission and that loss last month doesn’t sit well. I’ll back the visitors with scoring at a premium.

Edmonton Oilers at Pittsburgh Penguins

We have a collection of some of the best offensive talent in the game on display in this matchup. And both teams are fighting for their playoff lives adding more intensity. Edmonton’s Connor McDavid is well on his way to winning another Hart Trophy as league MVP racking up 42 goals and 60 assists through 57 games. He has a 20 point lead over teammate Leon Draisaitl in the scoring race. It wasn’t long ago Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby was a regular atop the scoring chart with Evgeni Malkin dropping goals all over the place. Those two are still working their magic helping the Pens average 3.2 goals. The teams can score and they also have difficulty keeping the puck out of their net. The Oilers are 21st in goals against and the Pens are 17th. Edmonton’s top-ranked power play will also help push the total OVER the closing number.

Los Angeles Kings at New Jersey Devils

We don’t often think of these two teams as NHL juggernauts. They’ve had brushes with success sporting five Stanley Cup titles between them but otherwise they are just two teams residing in the league. It’s been a lean decade for the Devils after falling to LA in the 2012 Stanley Cup final with only one playoff appearance since. That looks like it’s about to change, though, thanks to a core of talented young players. Jack Hughes could become the first player in New Jersey franchise history to score 50 goals and record 100 points in a season. He missed a few games last week with an upper body injury and the offense stalled, though the club went 2-1-1 in his absence. The Devils enter the week with the third-most points in the NHL and their plus-46 goal differential is second only to Boston. Meanwhile the Kings have been perhaps the hottest team in the league over the last month going 7-1-1 in nine games after a 6-5 shootout win over Arizona scoring at least five goals in four consecutive games. It’s tough to predict the outcome but I do think enough goals will be scored to make the OVER my NHL betting pick.
