MLB Same Game Parlays – Saturday, May 27
May 26, 2023Fanatics Makes Its Move in New York
May 29, 2023We went 1-1 with last Monday night’s MLB Same Game Parlays at BetRivers Sportsbook to kick off the week with a modest profit. The under never stood a chance in the opener between the Tigers and Royals with six combined runs scored in the first inning. Michael Lorenzen just snuck over his pitching outs prop while Brady Singer came nowhere close to his. Though Alex Cobb was pushed to Tuesday, we still cashed a ticket with the Giants on the moneyline paired with the under of Bailey Ober’s pitching outs. Let’s kick off a brand new week adding to the bankroll with some Memorial Day parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Texas Rangers vs. Detroit Tigers
Everything about the Texas Rangers is humming right along with the team perched atop the AL West standings holding a three-game lead over the Astros. Bruce Bochy’s troops have taken home series bragging rights in five of their last six. That will have many an MLB bettor looking to ride the wave in the opener with the Tigers as locked in and red hot Nathan Eovaldi has been which finds him in the conversation of winning the AL Cy Young Award at BetRivers (17-1). That being said, I’m going to take a stab with Detroit in this one with Matthew Boyd on the bump and the Tigers clocking in 11-10 and up $455 overall when playing in front of the hometown faithful. Positive regression looks to be headed his way with his 4.69 FIP over a run lower than his 5.74 ERA, and he’s been one of the best in MLB at producing whiffs (No. 17) while limiting hard contact (No. 21); two variables sorely needed against a Rangers offense that’s bludgeoned LHP the first two months of the baseball betting season.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago Cubs
We backed Marcus Stroman in his most recent start at home against the Mets and he granted us with eight innings of 2 ER ball to score his fourth win of the season. Having logged quality starts in 82 percent of his 11 made starts, it hardly comes as a surprise to see the under cashing in at a lucrative 8-3 clip whenever No. 0 takes to the hill. The righty has been nothing short of stellar in the comforts of Wrigley Field where he’s only surrendered 24 hits and 11 ER with a 34:12 K/BB ratio over 37 total innings. Getting destroyed by Tampa Bay last season should have Stro highly motivated for this rematch! It won’t be easy however with the opponent coming in the form of current AL Cy Young Award favorite Shane McClanahan (+400) who enters start No. 12 an unblemished 8-0 with a 1.97 ERA and 10.5 K/9. Though the Cubs have fared extremely well against LHP in going 9-5 and averaging 6.3 runs per game, this is a spot that will grossly test the abilities of Nico Hoerner and co. as a group. Either way, I expect both starters to dominate early and go deep into this one limiting scoring in the process.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Chicago White Sox
I’ve been patiently waiting for Michael Kopech to pop. From the looks of his last two starts, it finally looks like the right-hander has gotten his groove back having limited the Royals and Guardians to three hits and 0 ER with a 19:1 K/BB over 15 combined innings of work. OK, now let’s see how he fares against a Major League offense with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani set to invade Guaranteed Rate! This will be a stern test with the Halos 22-15 and averaging 4.8 runs per game against RHP to date, but it’s one I believe Kopech will be up for and be able to pass. LA has been a .500 squad away from the Big A, and will have Jaime Barria making his second start coming out of the pen. He was solid in his debut but will have his work cut out for him on Monday night running up against a Chicago offense that possesses a number of bats with impressive run values against his two preferred pitch types in the slider and changeup – per Baseball Savant. It’s been a trying campaign for the Palehose thus far, but closing May out with a win against the series odds would calm the nerves. Look for them to take a first step in doing so tonight!
