June 2, 2023MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Sunday, June 4
June 2, 2023
Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals got off to a good start for the Denver Nuggets, who got plenty of support from their top scorers to take a 104-93 win covering the 8.5-point spread at BetRivers sportsbook. This is an unusual situation for the Miami Heat trailing in a series for the first time this postseason. The Heat were able to eke out road wins at the start of their first three series but ran into a rested and determined opponent who’ve yet to lose at home in the playoffs. The Nuggets ran their home playoff record to 9-0 going 6-3 as a NBA pick against the spread. I backed Nikola Jokic for a triple-double as part of my same-game parlay for the opener and the two-time MVP didn’t disappoint with 27 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Unfortunately I backed the Heat and the points on the NBA betting line. Being the only game in town, BetRivers offers plenty of wagering options on Game 2 of the NBA Finals for your same-game parlay.

NBA Finals Game 2
Miami at Denver, 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT)
Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets
Making adjustments throughout their playoff run helped the Heat get to the Finals. They also had plenty of success shooting the basketball. That didn’t happen on Thursday with cold-shooting a factor in their playoff-low point total. Making half their triples ( 14 of 28 ) in the Game 7 Eastern Conference Finals win over Boston, the Heat had a hard time on Thursday going 13 of 39 from behind the arc. Shooting and making three-pointers are a big part of their offense and when they fail the result is what we got in Game 1.
There was a thought that guys like Caleb Martin and Max Strus were overachieving during the postseason. If that was the case they came down with a thud. Strus missed all nine three-point attempts and was 0 for 10 from the field overall in Game 1 while Martin was 1 of 7 for three points. And Jimmy Butler wasn’t immune ending the night with 13 points on 6 of 14 shots. What also hurt was Miami’s inability to get to the free throw line. They had only two attempts the entire game.
Butler doesn’t like losing and the way Miami lost was painful. They aren’t going to change the way they do things; just hopefully do them better. And that starts with Buckets. I would expect Butler to be more aggressive attacking the rim, which in theory should lead to more free throw attempts. It makes a lot of sense to include Butler going over his Game 2 point total on a same-game NBA picks and parlay.
Anthony Davis had massive games against the Nuggets during the Western Conference Final, which was largely overlooked because of Denver’s sweep. But that’s an area of concern and one that Bam Adebayo exploited on Thursday. The only Miami player to have an impact, Adebayo was 13 of 25 for 26 points with 13 rebounds and five assists. Miami’s accuracy issues allowed him to snare four offensive boards, still the individual numbers exceeded his player prop totals and there’s no reason those shouldn’t continue being large.
A lengthy period of time between games didn’t bother the Nuggets, who roared to a 29-20 first quarter lead and were ahead by as many as 24 points before settling for the 11-point victory. Denver extended its home winning streak to nine without a setback this postseason as a top NBA basketball pick.
I’m starting to think Nikola Jokic can get a triple-double every night he’s so effortless on the court. He had 10 points and 10 assists at halftime attempting only three shots. Joker gets plenty of help that allows him to be everywhere on the floor. Jamal Murray chipped in 26 points, Aaron Gordon had 16 and Michael Porter Jr. scored 14. The Nuggets made only eight threes but shot 51 percent from the field overall.
With 10 days between games the Nuggets took advantage with all five starters playing more than 36 minutes. Jokic, Porter and Murray all topped the 40-minute mark. And with a few more days off ahead of Game 2 the Nuggets will likely use the same game plan allowing their top players to hit the over on a number of game props.
