It’s all or nothing as the USFL concludes the 2023 regular season in Week 10 with seven teams still alive for three playoff spots. That’s the case since the Birmingham Stallions punched their ticket for a chance at a repeat by hammering Houston, 31-15, last week. Don’t expect the Stallions to take the week off, though, since they still need to beat Memphis on Saturday to clinch the South Division title. When the teams met in Week 3 Birmingham posted the largest win since the league resumed play last year blasting Memphis 42-2. The Stallions are peaking at the right time winning their last four games while going 3-1 as a USFL pick against the spread.
There are a number of scenarios for each team reaching the USFL postseason but the bottom line is the New Orleans Breakers clinch the second spot in the South with a win over Houston. New Orleans is a 4-point favorite on the USFL betting line having beaten the Gamblers 38-31 in Week 2. In the USFL North the winners in Week 10 advance to the postseason. With a win over Michigan on Sunday, the Philadelphia Stars win the division. Should Philly get upset the door opens for the New Jersey / Pittsburgh winner to claim a division crown. USFL Week 10 Schedule
Pittsburgh Maulers (3-6) at New Jersey Generals (3-6)

Getting quarterback De’Andre Johnson back in the lineup was a boost for the Generals offense. They scored more than 30 points for the first time this season in the crucial 37-33 Week 9 win over Philadelphia. Johnson was efficient completing 15 of 20 throws for 213 yards and Jersey amassed 365 total yards. They had a comfortable lead in the second half only to see it nearly disappear. However, a third forced turnover late in the fourth sealed the victory. The Generals had an easy time when the clubs met in Week 2 holding Pittsburgh with a TD in the 20-3 triumph. The Maulers have improved a little on offense since then, but not enough to cover the USFL betting line in this matchup.
USFL Prediction: New Jersey -3.5 / UNDER 40.5
Birmingham Stallions (7-2) at Memphis Showboats (5-4)

Led by MVP candidate Alex McGough the Stallions are playing outstanding football with the postseason looming. And while they’re the only team to have a playoff spot reserved finishing on a positive note and winning the division are priorities. McGough accounted for 242 total yards and three touchdowns, including his USFL leading 18th TD pass, in Birmingham’s 38-15 win over Houston. The Stallions have scored at least 20 points in every game and lead the league averaging 28.9 points. They are also the biggest USFL favorite this week laying 4.5-points. Despite the 31-3 loss last week, the Memphis defense played well allowing just 177 total yards. The Boats can reach the postseason with a win and New Orleans loss so expect a closer game than the Week 2 outcome.
USFL Prediction: Birmingham -4.5 / UNDER 44
New Orleans Breakers (6-3) at Houston Gamblers (5-4)

Every Week 10 game is critical but this might be the most intriguing of the bunch. The Breakers can win the division or not even make the playoffs depending on the results. It would behoove them to win and not worry about anything else. Losing twice in the last three weeks while going 0-3 as a USFL pick against the spread has put Houston’s playoff hopes on edge. They can still make it but need to beat New Orleans first. In their four losses the Gamblers surrendered a lot points and they failed last week to score a TD in five red zone trips. That’s a problem, but stopping the Breakers’ attack led by passing leader McLeod Bethel-Thompson could be more of an issue.
USFL Prediction: New Orleans -4 / OVER 45
Philadelphia Stars (4-5) at Michigan Panthers (3-6)

They have just one win over their past seven games but the Panthers are still alive for a playoff berth. Michigan blew a golden opportunity last week to oust Pittsburgh from the hunt while helping their cause. Again it was problems on offense plaguing the squad. The Panthers managed just 245 total yards with four Josh Love interceptions contributing to the 19-7 loss. Love’s 10 interceptions are the most in the USFL and the Panthers have turned the ball over a league high 17 times. Case Cookus was 25 of 39 for 263 yards and three TDs with an additional 59 yards on seven rush attempts in the 37-33 loss to Jersey. The Stars are averaging over 31 points in the previous three weeks and with a division title at stake they are a USFL best bet.
