USFL Betting – Divisional Playoffs Odds and Picks
June 23, 2023DraftKings SportsBook Opening at Wrigley Field
June 27, 2023It was an incredibly disappointing showing for my MLB Same Game Parlays last Tuesday night after dropping a pair of legs in a sickening fashion. Ranger Suarez threw six innings of 1 ER with 7 K at the Braves, but his offense gave him squat which saw the lefty take the no-decision in the standoff with Spencer Strider. Reid Detmers dominated the Dodgers bats through seven IP with 8 K, but like Suarez got nothing from the offense who got shutout by Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers wretched pen. Thankfully the Brew Crew pulled out a late-game comeback against the D’backs or else we would’ve taken the collar. Truthfully, we should’ve swept the board! Let’s see if we can’t reel in some green with tonight’s SGP’s over at BetRivers Sportsbook – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Miami Marlins vs. Boston Red Sox
We made a play on the under in Sandy Alcantara’s most recent start last week at home against the Blue Jays. I figured he’d take the bump stark raving mad after just allowing the Nats to get him for 10 hits (1 HR) and 5 ER in one of his shortest outings of the MLB betting season. Nope! He followed it up by giving up another 10 hits and 5 ER with all the damage occurring in the second inning. While the showing saw his ERA jump back over 5.00 for the season, I refuse to believe the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner has lost it. In fact, his stuff looked pretty darn good even though Toronto got the best of it. While the BoSox offense has been no joke against RHP (No. 9), it hasn’t excelled recently in averaging just 2.4 runs over the last five games. You know who has looked great recently? None other than Mr. Garrett Whitlock who’s conceded just 12 ER with a 28:4 K/BB ratio over his last 30 innings of work. He’s allowed 7 ER through three Fenway starts and gets the pleasure of running up against a Miami offense that averages just over 4.0 runs and owns a sub .700 OPS against RHP. I expect both starters to dominate early and go deep into this one.

Minnesota Twins vs. Atlanta Braves
We took a stab with the Twins in the opener of this three-game set with the Braves, and we’ll get involved in the second game of the series with staff ace Joe Ryan set to square off against Bryce Elder. As great the latter looks to be on paper entering his 16th start 5-1 with a shiny 2.40 ERA and .230 batting average against, I’m not at all sold on what the second-year hurler is doing to this point of the season. That being said, this looks to be another solid matchup running up against a Minnesota offense that’s done very little positively against his go-to pitches in the sinker and slider per Baseball Savant. Elder’s managed to go 6+ innings in six of his last seven starts, and the righty has been at his best in Truist where his ERA clocks in at 2.45 with opponent’s batting just .213 against him. Ryan enters his 16th start fresh off throwing a dominant complete game shutout against Boston in which he allowed three hits and logged 9 K. Serving up just 6.7 hits and allowing only 0.8 home runs per nine innings, the righty will be a tough nut for Ronald Acuna Jr. and his mates to crack. Backed by two of the best pens in the game, runs should be held in check throughout.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies
So we rode the Angels in two of their three played games in the Mile High City to end last week and ended up splitting with the ticket cash coming in the form of the 25-1 wipeout. I’m going right back to the well to drink from the fountain of Coors with the Dodgers who got Clayton Kershaw on the bump paired with the offense staring back at a righty in the form of Connor Seabold. He’ll be faced with the tough task of running up against an LA offense that’s bludgeoned opposing right-handers for a league-best 5.7 runs per game all the while raking for a .765 OPS (No. 6). Seabold last took the hill back on June 17 when he was peppered for nine hits (4 HR) and 9 ER against Atlanta’s bats that’ve also been otherworldly against RHP. While Coors has been a recent house of horrors for Kershaw, I expect him to excel in this spot and cruise to the dub due to his offense consistently denting the scoreboard frequently and efficiently.
