Finau is joined by Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa who will be playing this event for the first time. The only player ranked in the Top 10 in the latest World Golf Rankings is Max Homa at No. 9. Also in the field is Rocket Mortgage poster boy, Rickie Fowler who is listed as the second choice in the betting at odds of +1300. I say every week that we can’t bet the favorite and week after week the favorite loses. Finau is definitely one of the best players in this field, but it is almost a given now that I am not taking the golf betting favorite.

Value Picks

Fowler, Rickie +1300

Is this the week where Fowler finally breaks his winless drought? He has five wins in his career, but none since 2019. There is no question Fowler is playing well, as he has a number of Top 10 finishes. The work he has been doing with Butch Harman is evident and it could be that Fowler breaks his drought by winning for one of his main sponsors, Rocket Mortgage.

English, Harris +4000

It has been a good season for English who has six top 12 finishes this season. Three of those finishes came in his last five starts. I know that English hasn’t played that well in the past in this event, but his form is much better right now and his putting is leading the way. Putting will be of huge importance this week and English could be in the mix.

Aberg, Ludvig +5500

If you haven’t heard much about Ludvig, that is going to change. He was the top amateur in the world before turning pro recently. He looked good at the RBC Canadian Open and he was not out of his element last week at the Travelers. His overall stats are solid and he could contend this week.

Eckroat, Austin +7000

Eckroat should like Detroit Golf Club and its wide fairways. He is 16^th on the PGA Tour in total driving. He has been showing up on leaderboards more often of late and he is in position to make the FedExCup Playoffs. Eckroat is getting closer to winning and it might just be this week.

Reavie, Chez +9000

I am shocked that the odds on Reavie are this high. He played well last week until Sunday when he slipped. He has done well in the past on short courses and he should like this course in Detroit. I’ll take a shot with Reavie at big odds.

Yu, Kevin +10000

I will take a longshot flyer on Yu who is playing well. He was playing well at the Travelers last week but he slipped back on the weekend. He has very strong driving numbers for the season and in a field that is weaker than what we have seen recently, Yu could contend.
