July 18, 2023Open Championship Matchup Picks
July 19, 2023We ended up cashing two of three MLB Same Game Parlays over at PointsBet Sportsbook last Tuesday! The Cubs and Reds took care of business for us across the board, and we would’ve swept the entire slate had the Red Sox been able to plate more than two runs against the Rangers. Here’s to reeling in some green with today’s lineup of parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Baltimore Orioles
Whose ready for some day baseball with two of the league’s best teams squaring off against one another with series bragging rights likely on the line? My hand is WAY up! A fantastic pitching matchup could be in the making for this one with Julio Urias set to make his fourth start since coming off the DL against Dean Kremer who has led the O’s to wins in five of his last six starts. We backed Urias in his most recent start at the Mets and the lefty delivered by tossing six shutout innings while fanning seven and only issuing a single walk. That made it back-to-back quality starts for the southpaw who improved to 7-5 and lowered his ERA to 4.35 in the process. That being said, Baltimore figures to be a much stiffer test than NY with it 21-10 and averaging 5.2 runs per game against lefties (No. 8). Even with Ced Mullins gimpy again, the O’s still have ample firepower to make this tough on Urias. It likely won’t be a walk in the park for Kremer either considering LA rakes RHP for a league-best 5.8 runs per game, but we’re going to throw caution to the wind anyway and back the scorching hot Orioles regardless of both offenses owning the advantage.

Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals
It’s unknown at the time of this writing as to whom the Redbirds will send to the bump to make the start in the finale of this three-game set with the Fish. It could be Matthew Liberatore. It could be Adam Wainwright. Though each has been nothing short of death for MLB bettor’s bankrolls all season, I’m digging the way St. Louis has been playing ever since going to London to battle the Cubs. Since then, Ollie Marmol’s squad has split its last 16 games but enters this series having taken two straight. While the series wins came against the sub .500 Nationals and White Sox, they’ll take to their home field looking to settle the score after dropping three of four in Miami right before the All-Star break. Nolan Arenado and co. didn’t get to oppose Sandy Alcantara in that series, but will now get to face a lesser version of the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner after seeing his stuff twice last season. Since winning four of his five made starts in June, Miami has dropped all three of his July starts and looks to be in a negative regression right now having just been swept out of Camden Yards.

San Francisco Giants vs. Cincinnati Reds
It pains me to do this, but the Brew Crew just put the Reds in their place and it’s now up to Joey Votto and co. to bust out of the slump before I can recommend backing these guys anytime soon. The offense simply disappeared against Milwaukee whom it only managed 14 runs against through six tries while getting shutout three straight times. Hat tip to Cincy’s pitching for keeping them in most games, but we all know the ‘Natti isn’t winning games with regularity unless Elly De La Cruz and his mates are consistently peppering the baseball to all fields. That just isn’t happening right now which leads me to believe Ross Stripling could be in line for his best start since returning from the IL at the end of June. His results since getting back on the bump have largely been unimpressive save for only allowing 5 ER through 13.1 innings of work. While we’ve been on Graham Ashcraft in each of his last two starts and he only allowed 2 ER through 12 IP, he still isn’t earning much swing and miss (No. 119) or called + swinging strikes (No. 136). On top of that, his 3.8 BB/9 makes it seem like you’re always playing with fire whenever backing him on the MLB odds. With the Giants 6-1 its last seven and averaging 4.8 RPG against RHP, they’re worth a squeeze in the third game of this extended series.
