Tournament Notes
The Old White course was decimated about a year ago from flooding but it is said to be in excellent shape now. It is a par 70 that is fairly long, but it also includes a par-3 18th hole that has danger all around. The greens on this course are large and slow, so putting will be a key. The winners on the PGA Tour on this course were ones that were known as precision ball strikers. Three current LIV players have won on this course. Danny Lee won in 2015, Kevin Na in 2018 and Joaquin Niemann in 2019.

If you follow golf on a regular basis then you already know that golf betting favorites lose almost every single week. It doesn’t matter whether it is the PGA Tour or the LIV Golf Tour, the favorites flop. It was thought that with a smaller field that LIV Golf betting favorites would do better but that has not been the case. Smith won the last event in London, but it was Koepka who was listed as the betting favorite. There is no question that Smith is capable of winning this event, but I am definitely not taking him as the favorite and at odds this low.

It always helps when a player likes the course. Listen to what Niemann said about this week’s event. “Greenbrier, obviously for me, is a really special place. Niemann said to the media, “Once I saw that LIV Golf had Greenbrier on the schedule, I got pretty excited. It’s a course I really love.” It also helps that cause that Niemann is playing well and he is looking to help his team in the team standings. I’ll take Niemann at 16-1.

Normally I wouldn’t back Reed, but his odds have lowered, as it seems someone believes that Reed is going to contend for the win this week. I don’t get too excited about odds movements that often, but Reed has been playing better and this course should definitely suit his game.
Henrik Stenson +4000
You have to like the way that Stenson is playing coming into this event. He tied for 13th at the Open which was the best finish of any LIV golfer. He tied for 6th in the last LIV event in London so his form is definitely good. He is a precision player who should do well on this course.
