Wyndham Championship Odds and Picks
August 1, 2023Atlanta Falcons Season Win Total Odds, Pick & Prediction
August 2, 2023It is all about points this week for those players right around the bubble of the FedExCup Standings. Only the top 70 will make it into the FedExCup Playoffs which begin next week with the St. Jude Championship. None of the world’s top players are in the field this week, as they are taking the week off to get ready for the playoffs. What we do have is every golfer who is 58th in points to 86th in points in the field. There are still a few recognizable names including Justin Thomas who needs a really good week to get into the Top 70. Sungjae Im is listed as the betting favorite at BetRivers at odds of +1800. After having some good success with the matchup picks, we have struggled the past couple of weeks. We’ll look to turn the corner and get back on track with Wyndham Championship matchup picks.
Defending Champion: Tom Kim
Tournament Notes: This tournament will likely be decided by the eight par 4’s that measure between 400-450 yards since there are only two par 5’s on the course. Keep an eye on Denny McCarthy, Aaron Rai, Ben Griffin, Thomas Detry and Brandon Todd, as they have gained the most strokes on holes of that distance in the last 24 rounds.

Golf Picks
Poston, J.T. -125 vs. Todd, Brendon
Poston comes in playing really well, as he finished in a tie for 2nd last week and he also has three other top 10 finishes. He has played well at Sedgefield in the past, s he won this event in 2019, shooting 22-under par. I’ll ride the streak and go with Poston in this matchup against Todd.
Scott, Adam -110 vs. Burns, Sam
This is a big week for Scott, as he needs a high finish to avoid missing the FedExCup playoffs for the first time. He sits in 81st in points, so he will need to contend for the win this week. He has played well in this event in the past, losing in a playoff in 2021. Burns has been up and down all season, so I have no idea what to expect from him this week. I’ll take Scott in this matchup.
Lowry, Shane -129 vs. Kirk, Chris
Lowy is one of my golf picks in the odds article and he is in a similar position to Adam Scott. Lowy is 76th in points so he will need to play really well this week. He has five top 20 finishes in his last seven starts and he has two top 25 finishes on this course. I’ll lay the small price and take Lowry in this matchup.
Smalley, Alex -101 vs. Jaeger, Stephan
Smalley has been playing well, including a tie for 2nd at the John Deere Classic. Smalley played this tournament on a sponsor exemption in 2021 and finished in the top 30. I’ll take him in this matchup against Jaeger.
Streelman, Kevin -129 vs. Stevens, Sam
Streelman has made the cut at Sedgefield six times in eight tries, including a tie for 7th two years ago. He comes in playing well, as he tied for 2nd at the 3M Open last week. I’ll lay the small price and take him against Stevens.
