August 9, 2023The best players in the world will be competing in the FedExCup Playoffs that begin this week with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Tennessee. Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the top three betting choices this week where the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings are in the field. After this event is over, the top 50 players will advance to next week’s BMW Championship. There are some intriguing golf betting matchups on the board at BetRivers this week, with the top players in the spotlight. I bounced back nicely with the picks last week at the Wyndham Championship, going 3-1-1. I will look to continue the success this week with FedEx St. Jude Championship matchup picks.
Defending Champion: Will Zalatoris
Tournament Notes: This year’s FedExCup Playoffs will have just 70 golfers who qualify for this event in Tennessee. For the first time there will be no cut in this event, so all 70 players will be around for the weekend. This will be the second year for TPC Southwind to host the event. The greens average just 4,300 square feet so putting is not as critical to success as it is on some courses. The weather could be interesting this week with wind and rain in the forecast for a couple of the days.

An, Byeong Hun -120 vs. Jaeger, Stephan
You have to like the way that An is playing right now with top finishes in two of his last three starts. I don’t think he will have any letdown this week, as he keeps the momentum going. I’ll lay the small price and take An in this matchup.
Finau, Tony -120 vs. Im, Sungjae
Finau played well in the 3M Open and finished in a tie for 7th. He has already gone on record saying that he needs to play well in the playoffs to make sure he gets a Ryder Cup spot. He tied for 5th in this event a year ago. I’ll take Finau in this matchup.
Straka, Sepp +113 vs. Conners, Corey
This matchup is simply a price play for me, as I can’t believe that Conners is favored over Straka. It was just a year ago that Straka played well in this event and what has Conners done to deserve this type of respect? I’ll take Straka at plus money in this matchup.
Grillo, Emiliano -120 vs. Davis, Cameron
Grillo is playing really well, as he has tied for 6th and tie for 10th in his last two starts and it wasn’t that long ago that he won the Charles Schwab Challenge. This has definitely been a breakout year for Grillo. I’ll take him in this matchup against Davis.
Hodges, Lee -115 vs. Glover, Lucas
This matchup is an automatic one for me, as I almost always go against the winner from last week. Hodges has been playing well, so this is not a bad matchup at all. I can’t see anything other than a big letdown from Glover, so I will take Hodges in this matchup.
