August 24, 2023MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Saturday, August 26
August 24, 2023We ended up cashing one of three MLB Same Game Parlays at PointsBet Sportsbook last Friday night, but could’ve just as easily swept the board. The Phillies got Michael Lorenzen out to a 6-1 lead in his first start following the no-no, but the right-hander imploded in the bottom of the fourth and the Phillies ultimately went down 8-7. Brandon Woodruff came nowhere close to exceeding his pitching outs prop, but the Rangers still ended up losing in a 9-8 slugfest to the Brew Crew. Thankfully the Marlins and Sandy Alcantara came up big by destroying Tony Gonsolin and cruise to the 11-3 SGP cash against the MLB odds to halt LA’s win streak at 11. Here’s to kicking the weekend off with some winning parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays
I’ve made the choice to fade the Yankees the remainder of the season and will look to take advantage of some line value here with the Rays set to square off against Gerrit Cole for the fourth time this MLB betting season. Though the righty owns a 1-0 record through those outings, his counting stats haven’t been overly impressive. Randy Arozarena and co. have gotten to him for 17 hits (5 HR) through his 17 combined innings, and blasted him for eight hits (2 HR) and 5 ER when he threw at them in “The Trop” back in early June. The righty did score a win against the Rays in his most recent appearance against them back on August 2, but NY has dropped his three starts since. Zach Eflin has been a model of consistency all season. I expect the righty’s rejuvenation to continue in start No. 25 against a Yankees offense he’s limited to a .233 batting average against and going 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 0.92 WHIP while averaging six innings per start.

Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins
Since taking two of three from the Yankees from August 11-13, Miami has managed just one win in each of its last two series against the Astros and Dodgers. If it loses the finale in San Diego on Wednesday night, that will make it three straight series losses for a team fighting for one of the three available wild-card slots. Skip Schumaker’s troops currently sit 1-game out of third position a half-game in back of both the Reds and Giants. While the Nationals sit 7.5-games out and have been a spunky bunch of late, this is a series the Marlins must bring home considering they’ve already taken all six matchups against their division rivals earlier this season. I faded Joan Adon against Philly in his last turn and suffered a sickening defeat. He deserved to take the loss after getting lit for 6 ER through four innings, but got bailed out by the offense. I don’t expect that to occur tonight against Eury Perez who showed how nasty he can be in his most recent turn by tossing 6 shutout innings with 10 K at a Dodgers team lined +375 favorites to win the World Series at PointsBet.

Atlanta Braves vs. San Francisco Giants
Let’s close the night out by taking in one of the best pitching matchups of Friday’s baseball betting slate with Spencer Strider set to square off against Logan Webb by the cove. Since shockingly getting roughed up by the Pittsburgh Pirates of all teams, the potential NL Cy Young Award winner has been lethal in tossing 14 combined innings of shutout ball at the Mets and these same Giants all the while racking up a 16:5 K/BB ratio. San Fran’s offense has hit the skids with it averaging 3.4 runs per game over the last week (No. 25), so I’m not too concerned with the unit getting to see Strider again so quickly as dominant he’s been. Webb will also take the bump looking for redemption after the Braves got to him for nine hits (1 HR) and 4 ER through his 6 IP at Truist last Saturday. He’s been his best within Oracle Park where he’s the owner of a 2.11 ERA and .223 batting average against with an 82:13 K/BB ratio over 85.1 total innings. Look for both starters to put on a show and keep the offenses in check.
