UFC Odds – UFC 293: Adesanya vs. Strickland
September 6, 2023Week 2 College Football Off the Radar Best Bets
September 6, 2023We ended up splitting our MLB Same Game Parlays at PointsBet Sportsbook last Friday night with the play on the Marlins cancelled due to the pitching change. Fading Gerrit Cole and the Yankees proved to be a losing proposition after PointsBet’s -275 frontrunner to win the AL Cy Young tossed 7.2 innings of 1 ER ball to earn New York its only win of the series. We recouped that hit to the bankroll in the nightcap when the Braves and Giants played to a low scorer as expected with Spencer Strider and Logan Webb squaring off. Here’s to kicking the weekend off with some winning parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Chicago Cubs
My goodness has Zac Gallen crapped the bed! In a matter of two starts, the D’backs right-hander has swelled from the +150 favorite to win the NL Cy Young Award all the way to +2000 after logging successive miserable outings against the Dodgers and Orioles. Now granted, Los Angeles and Baltimore possess two of the more potent offenses in the league, but there was simply no excuse for him getting lit up for 17 hits (4 HR) and 11 ER while only managing a 7:4 K/BB ratio through 10.2 combined innings. The Cubs figure to be another tough test with Cody Bellinger and Co. raking right-handed pitching to the tune of a .746 OPS (No. 12) and 4.9 runs per game (No. 8). That being said, he’s held current bats on Chicago’s roster to a paltry .120 batting average and .425 OPS through four career starts with Yan Gomes the only bat to take him deep. For a moment there, Jameson Taillon looked like he was starting to get it but has regressed since mid-August with the righty serving up 23 ER in his last 26.1 innings. I don’t trust him here and fully expect Gallen to show out and lead Zona to the win.

New York Mets vs. Minnesota Twins
I haven’t a clue who will win the opener of this three-game set between the Mets and Twins with Kodai Senga scheduled to square off against Dallas Keuchel. It remains to be seen if the latter will actually get the starting nod as the opener, starter, or come out of the pen. Either way, it doesn’t matter. I’m targeting Senga here with the 30-year old rookie Japanese import looking to keep his sterling MLB debut moving forward as the best arm NY trots to the hill every fifth day. No team in the league strikes out at a higher rate than that of the Twinkies who’ve done so at a near 27 percent clip throughout the MLB betting season. Senga enters start No. 26 having gone for double-digit strikeout tallies in back-to-back starts and combined for 13.2 innings in those outings. He’s locked in right now! While oddsmakers are likely to inflate his K prop and ask us to lay an inordinate amount of juice in the process, I believe in the right-hander and expect him to dominate Minnesota en route to logging a sixth straight quality start.

San Diego Padres vs. Houston Astros
Zac Gallen’s misery has been Blake Snell’s fortune with the left-hander now the odds-on -250 favorite to win the NL Cy Young Award playing for what will go down in history as one of the biggest disappointments in the game. The southpaw has been exemplary through 28 starts in going 12-9 with a 2.50 ERA with 201 strikeouts limiting the opposition to a .191 batting average while leading San Diego to wins in seven of his last eight starts. However, I think he gets his bell rung in this one throwing at an unforgiving Astros lineup that owns the league’s No. 8 walk rate and bludgeons LHP for a league-best 6.2 runs per game. Minute Maid Park has also been a house of horrors for the lefty evidenced by his 7.94 ERA, 2.06 WHIP, and .563 BAA with 15 ER allowed through 17.0 total innings of work. Hunter Brown isn’t an arm I’d go out of my way to back on the MLB odds as up-and-down a campaign the righty has had, but this SGP is all about Kyle Tucker and his mates giving Snell a whipping and allowing variance to once again wreak havoc upon the NL Cy Young Award odds.
