September 8, 2023We took the collar with last Monday’s MLB Same Game Parlays to kick off the week with a dud performance at BetRivers Sportsbook. The Yankees and Tigers failed to play to the high scorer I envisioned with Luis Severino and Reese Olson shockingly combining for 18 strikeouts through 11.1 innings. The Brewers jumped on Jameson Taillon for four in the first and never looked back en route to logging the 6-2 win which proved to be Milwaukee’s only triumph of the series. Zac Gallen lost his grip on the NL Cy Young Award after giving up 6 ER and 4 HR to the Dodgers through 5.1 innings – woe was me! Here’s to kicking off the week with some same game parlay pick winners – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Texas Rangers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Chris Bassitt came through for us in a big way in Oakland last time out where he tossed eight innings of 1 ER ball with a perfect 7:0 K/BB ratio. In doing so, we cashed the SGP of the run-line paired with the Blue Jays going over their 4.5-run total. That makes it back-to-back outings of eight strong innings for the right-hander, and we’ll be firing right back on him to kick off the week in this home tilt against the floundering Rangers. Bassitt has been at his absolute best at home where he clocks in 7-3 with a 2.80 ERA and .185 batting average against. He’ll take to the bump with a chip on his shoulder for start No. 30 after Texas got to him for seven hits and five runs and forced him out of the game before the fourth back on June 18. Nathan Eovaldi returned from the IL early last week and proceeded to get lit up by the Astros for 4 ER and 2 HR in his 1.1 innings of work. Texas is desperate to win games right now with it recently relinquishing the top spot in the AL West while on the verge of getting bounced from the wildcard race as well. Eovaldi isn’t healthy and the team is forcing the issue. With Toronto now owners of that third and final wildcard slot, I don’t foresee them relinquishing it at home to kick off this pivotal series.

Miami Marlins vs. Milwaukee Brewers
With just 3 ER allowed in his last 19 combined innings over three starts, it looks like Brandon Woodruff is locked in for the stretch run of the baseball betting season. That’s great news for the Brew Crew considering they’re holding onto a 2.5-game lead atop the NL Central standings with both Chicago and Cincinnati breathing down their necks. Many an MLB bettor will be looking to lay the home chalk at BetRivers considering how dominant Milwaukee has been at home in winning 40 of 68 played games ($490), but I’ll zig while everybody zags with the Marlins sending one of the sports best left-handed pitchers to the bump for his 29 start of the year. In case you live under a rock, Milwaukee is a fade whenever running up against LHP with it 18-22 overall (-$800) and averaging a league-worst 3.2 runs per game. Miami needs to stockpile wins at all costs right now with the team sitting 3.5-games out of the wildcard race with only 24 games remaining on the docket. Jesus Luzardo has dominated the few bats he’s seen in the past on the Brewers current roster, and has allowed a grand total of 2 ER in his last 18 IP against the Padres, Rays, and Dodgers. He’ll be way up for this challenge!

Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners
Left for dead a month ago, the Mariners are now firmly back in the playoff chase sitting a game out in the AL West and owners of the second wildcard spot with 24 games remaining on the 2023 MLB betting schedule. One of the constants on the team has been none other than Logan Gilbert who enters start No. 28 the owner of a 12-5 record that’s backed by a 3.56 ERA and 1.04 WHIP that’s strongly supported by a solid 3.66 FIP. The righty is only serving up 7.8 hits and 1.6 walks per nine innings and fans nearly six batters per walk issued. With Shohei Ohtani bruised and battered, Mike Trout back on the IL, and the Halos out of the playoff chase a week removed from wheeling and dealing at the trade deadline, Gilbert will get the advantage of running up against a skeleton crew lineup that puts him in position to tally his thirteenth win against the MLB odds. He’ll be dead set on showing up after LA embarrassed him back in early June when he was yanked after serving up eight hits (2 HR) and seven runs through three innings. The run support should be there with Julio Rodriguez and Co. averaging 4.7 runs per game against LHP and already rocking Patrick Sandoval for 10 hits (1 HR) and 5 ER in the five innings he tossed at them back on June 10.
