September 26, 2023NFL Week 4 Thursday Picks, Predictions, and Odds
September 26, 2023It was a big week for us last week as we hit seven of our eight sides and cashed three of our four parlays. We were able to go four for four on Wednesday night resulting in a pretty nice profit, and we followed that up with a nice hit on Cleveland and the Guardians finishing over their team total in a 9-8 win over Baltimore on Friday night.
The only loss was a laugher as we took Miami to knock off Milwaukee as a home underdog per the MLB betting odds. The Brewers scored 12 runs in the second inning on their way to a 16-1 drubbing of the Marlins, but that blowout did mean that Corbin Burnes finished Under his strikeout total. Now we are looking to enter the postseason on a high note with our picks on Wednesday and Friday of this week.

Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals
Tarik Skubal vs. Undecided
As we said last week, this is the time of year where it pays well to go against the grain. Everyone is hopping on the best pitchers and any team with something to play for at this point, resulting in extra value per the baseball betting odds on exceptionally bad teams like the Kansas City Royals.
Kansas City has been the hottest team in baseball since the middle of the month with a 10-1 record in its last 11 games. The Royals swept Cleveland and won five of six games against Houston to surprise everyone that had written them off after they lost 100+ games.
Many bettors will call for their hot streak to end on Wednesday when they face Detroit ace Tarik Skubal. Since returning from injury in July, Skubal has been red hot and is currently carrying a 2.95 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. However, the one time he was rocked this season came when he played Kansas City. The Royals lit him up for seven earned runs in four innings back in mid-July, and they may have picked up on something that other teams haven’t in film prep.
It is always a bit scary to back a team that has yet to announce its starting pitcher, but the MLB odds on the Royals are going to be pretty juicy. We are going to make it simple and parlay Kansas City with the Over as this one could easily have 10 or more runs.

Minnesota Twins vs. Oakland Athletics
Pablo Lopez vs. Joey Estes
You really have to hold your nose to bet on the worst team in baseball this season, but the value in Oakland will probably be just too good to pass up on Wednesday. The Athletics are currently 48-108 with a horrible run differential of -326. They lost eight games in a row very recently, but they took two out of their last three games against Detroit and were able to somewhat limit the Tigers on offense.
Joey Estes is expected to make his second start for Oakland. The 21-year-old was rocked in his first career outing last week, allowing six hits and five earned runs over 4.2 innings. However, the front office is optimistic about Estes’ future as he has three pitches that are average to above average.
Meanwhile, Minnesota has bigger fish to fry. The Twins are locked into the No. 3 seed in the American League as a result of winning the AL Central, but they will not be able to run down the other two division winners. That should lead to a relatively short outing for Pablo Lopez as Minnesota is very reliant on its three big arms.
There’s a good chance that we see other Minnesota players take a day off in preparation for the start of the postseason as well. Oakland will do no such thing as the Athletics look to get their young players seasoning, so that has the potential to give the A’s another edge in this game.
