College Football Week 5 Line Move Plays
September 28, 2023Milwaukee Bucks Favored in NBA Title Odds with Lillard
September 28, 2023These will be our final MLB Same Game Parlay selections of the regular season. We had been running red hot until Wednesday when we failed to win either of our MLB Same Game Parlay Picks. However, one of the two picks ended up being ruled a ‘Push’ as the game between Kansas City and Detroit was suspended in the fifth inning due to weather.
The other pick ended up being a loser, but we made a pretty solid read as Pablo Lopez only ended up pitching 4.1 innings for Minnesota ahead of the start the playoffs. Oakland had a 4-2 lead after the fifth inning in a game where Minnesota was a whopping -285 favorite per the baseball betting odds, but the Athletics surrendered two runs in the sixth inning and another two runs in the eighth to lose 6-4 in the Twin Cities.

Colorado Rockies vs. Minnesota Twins
Ty Blach vs. Joe Ryan
For the second time this week, I’m zeroing in on a game involving the Minnesota Twins. However, rather than going against the Twinkies, I’m backing them on Friday night in the Mile High City.
Minnesota is set to use Sonny Gray and Pablo Lopez as its top two pitchers in the postseason, so the Twins will let Joe Ryan throw a decent amount of innings in his final regular season start. This team doesn’t have to worry about setting its rotation, so we won’t see anything wonky in that area, and we expect the Twins to let their hitters gain some extra confidence ahead of the postseason with three games against Colorado in Coors Field.
Colorado has been abysmal this season with more than 100 losses, and the Rockies have been particularly bad with Ty Blach on the mound. They are 4-15 in games where he has seen action, as Blach has given up at least three runs in each of his last five starts. He has been particularly prone to the gopher ball, surrendering eight home runs in those five starts, and he has allowed 23 earned runs in 25 innings during this stretch.
The big issue with Blach is that he simply doesn’t strike out enough batters. He only has 46 strikeouts in 73 innings this season, and that’s just not good enough in this day and age.

Chicago White Sox vs. San Diego Padres
Dylan Cease vs. Nick Martinez
Dylan Cease hasn’t had a great year for the Chicago White Sox. The 27-year-old right hander is 7-8 with a 4.66 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP, and this is easily his worst season since he became part of the team’s rotation in 2020. However, you can make a case that he has been somewhat unlucky as he still has nice strikeout numbers with 207 Ks and a 10.8 K/9.
Cease is coming off one of his best outings of the season. He struck out 11 Boston batters in seven innings and didn’t allow a single run in a 1-0 win over the Red Sox. Unfortunately, Cease didn’t get the win due to a lack of run support, but he has been very good in September after a disastrous August. While Cease posted an 8.07 ERA last month, he has a solid 3.04 ERA through four starts in September.
This has been an incredibly disappointing season for San Diego. The Padres are currently under .500 even though they have a +97 run differential (fourth-best in the NL). They will likely be eliminated from postseason contention prior to this game, so don’t be surprised if they end up sitting a lot of their high-priced talent. Additionally, San Diego has been remarkably disappointing at the plate despite its collection of talent with only Juan Soto posting an OPS over .800.
That should lead to a very strong outing from Cease in his last start of the season. We believe that he will capitalize on the situation as he looks ahead to another round of arbitration this offseason.
