November 15, 2023The PGA Tour wraps up the FedExCup Fall schedule this week with The RSM Classic at St. Simons Island, Georgia. The top 125 in the FedExCup standings after this week will have exempt status for the 2023-2024 PGA Tour season. Defending champion Adam Svensson will look to make history, as no player has ever won The RSM Classic in back-to-back years. Ludvig Aberg is back in action this week and he is listed as the golf betting favorite at BetRivers. Open Championship winner Brian Harman is in action for the first time since the TOUR Championship. He finished second in this event a year ago. Let’s look at The RSM Classic picks.

Favorite
Aberg, Ludvig +1400
I almost never take golf betting favorites and I am not taking Aberg this week. Having said that, it would not be a surprise to see him win, as the field this week is not that strong, but golf favorites simply don’t win enough to be profitable.
Value Picks
Kuchar, Matt +4000
Kuchar is one of the players in the field this week who is a resident of St. Simons Island so he knows this course well. He has played the event 11 times but never finished better than 7th. This could be his year, as he comes in playing really well, including a 2nd place finish at the World Wide Technology Championship. He is 52nd in the World Golf Rankings and that means a great finish this week would propel him into the top 50 and guarantee him a spot in the Masters. I think Kuchar has a shot and we get 40-1
Todd, Brendon +4000
Todd is playing well of late and he is a 3-time winner on the PGA Tour. He is another player who could move into the Top 50 in the World Golf Rankings with a great week. He is capable of getting hot with his putter on the greens this week and contending for the win.
Horschel, Billy +4500
Horschel has been playing on the DP World Tour quite a bit lately and he played pretty well. This will be his first PGA event since he finished 4th at the Wyndham. He usually plays well on courses that feature Bermudagrass and that is the case this week. He has played well in this event in the past including a 2nd place finish in 2015. I’ll take a flyer on Horschel at big odds.
Thompson, Davis +6000
Why not another rookie to get a win this week? This event saw two huge rookie winners in 2016 when Mackenzie Hughes won at odds of more than 200-1 and Austin Cook won at odds of nearly 100-1 in 2017. Thompson played well at the World Wide Technology Championship finishing 15th. He lives on St. Simons Island and he finished 23rd as an amateur six years ago. I’ll take a flyer on him at big odds this week.
Matthew NeSmith +12500
How about a big longshot this week. NeSmith has been up and down but he likes this course. He played this event for the first time in 2019 and finished 14th. He finished 15th the next year. He did disappoint a year ago, but when he gets hot with his putter he can contend.
