NFL Football Thursday Night Betting Parlay
The Los Angeles Chargers continue to be one of the NFL’s great underachieving teams. And what frustrates fans and gamblers is that the Chargers are wasting the talents of QB Justin Herbert. Now Herbert has a broken finger to make matters worse. Los Angeles has lost four of its last five games, getting the money just once in that span. But the Las Vegas Raiders have been nearly as bad. The Raiders have dropped out of their last seven. The Raiders host the Chargers on Thursday on Prime Video. It’s an AFC West rivalry dating back to 1960 and the founding of the American Football League.

Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders (-3, OU 34) 8:15 pm, Prime Video
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, the Las Vegas Raiders of the AFC West will host the Los Angeles Chargers of the AFC West at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. Kickoff time is 8:15 p.m. ET, with television coverage on Prime Video.
Last game, the Las Angeles Chargers lost 24-7 against the Denver Broncos as 3-point home favorites. The game went under the total of 46. Los Angeles has a record of 5-8 straight up, 4-8-1 against the spread, and 3-10 over/under the total. LA ranks 17th for total offense, 10th for passing, 25th for rushing and 16th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 29th overall, 29th against the pass, 16th against the rush, and 18th for points allowed. Also, LA ranks 11th for fewest turnovers lost and 19th for takeaways.
Russell Wilson completed 21 of 33 passes for 224 yards for two touchdowns, including a 46-yard TD to Courtland Sutton in the third quarter. Herbert has a fracture in his right index finger. Coach Brandon Staley said the Chargers will do more tests before determining how long Herbert will be out. It is a short week for the 5-8 Bolts, who have dropped four of five and are in Las Vegas on Thursday night.
It is the second broken finger for Herbert this season. He fractured the middle finger of his left non-throwing hand during the second half against Las Vegas on Oct. 1.
Herbert was 9 of 17 for 96 yards with an interception before being injured, apparently while he was taken down awkwardly by Denver’s Zach Allen after throwing a pass. He tried to grip the ball on the sideline after that drive but wasn’t able to do it properly.
Last game, the Las Vegas Raiders lost 3-0 against the Minnesota Vikings 3-point home dogs. The game went under the total of 41. Las Vegas has a record of 5-8 straight up, 6-5-2 against the spread, and 3-10 over/under the total. Las Vegas ranks 29th for total offense, 22nd for passing, 32nd for rushing and 28th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 16th overall, 11th against the pass, 25th against the rush, and 9th for points allowed. Also, Las Vegas ranks 31st for fewest turnovers lost and 24th for takeaways.
Only Greg Joseph’s 36-yard field goal with 1:57 left gave the Vikings a 3-0 victory over the Raiders. It was the first 3-0 game since Pittsburgh beat Miami on Nov. 26, 2007, the third in the past 40 years and the seventh in the Super Bowl era. The last game that ended regulation scoreless was a 0-0 tie between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions on Nov. 7, 1943.
The Vikings had just 230 total yards, and the Raiders – losers of three in a row – were limited to 201 yards and nine first downs. Minnesota beat an AFC West opponent for the first time this season after going 0-3.
It was Minnesota’s first shutout since defeating Green Bay 16-0 on Dec. 23, 2017, and the first blanking of Las Vegas since its 24-0 loss to New Orleans on Oct. 30, 2022.
Nick Mullens relieved an ineffective Joshua Dobbs at quarterback in the fourth quarter and led the Vikings on their lone scoring drive. His 22-yard completion to Jordan Addison to the Raiders 20 set up Joseph’s kick.
Chargers at Raiders Free Parlay Pick
In this situation, the Chargers’ inconsistency has become an annoying way of life. Not that the Raiders are reliable either, but Las Vegas has offered better board value throughout the season. As mentioned earlier, both clubs have trended strongly under the total in 2023.

Derek Carr, who completed 33 of 55 for 301 yards, drove New Orleans to a first-and-goal at the 6 in the final minute but threw four straight incompletions. Saints tight end Foster Moreau was wide open in the end zone when he dropped a third-down pass with 25 seconds left.

Carolina Panthers 13 at Chicago Bears 16
The prime-time matchup between teams among the bottom five in the NFL delivered about as much drama as expected. But Chicago made enough plays to come away with the victory.
The Bears also boosted their chances at the No. 1 pick because they have Carolina’s first-rounder in 2024. They acquired the pick along with Moore last March for the top selection this year. The Panthers are tied with Arizona – which plays Atlanta on Sunday – for the worst record in the NFL.
