Monday Night Football Same Game Parlay – Eagles at Seahawks

The Week 15 Monday Night Football game will be a first in the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks matchup was flexed into the primetime slot with it viewed as a more appealing game. On paper that might be the case with the Eagles tied with three other teams for the best record in the NFL. But two weeks ago they had a two-game lead in the NFC and over Dallas in the Eastern Division. That’s all been eliminated with two straight losses. And even though the Seahawks dropped below .500 during their current four-game losing skid, they are tied with four other clubs for the final playoff spot in the conference. With both teams in need of a win it should make for a tense game with intriguing betting options for a same-game parlay at BetRivers sportsbook.

Despite getting worked over by the teams they are now tied with in the conference standings, the Eagles are a 3.5-point favorite on the NFL betting line. Prior to their skid the Eagles toppled some of the better teams in the league beating Miami, Dallas, Kansas City and Buffalo during a five-game winning streak that saw them go 3-0-2 as a NFL pick against the spread. Their remaining games are against teams that enter Week 15 with a losing record.

I came close to hitting a four-wager same-game parlay in last week’s MNF tilt with three of the wagers hitting. But as we know close doesn’t count when it comes to NFL parlays. I backed the Giants at +7 and they beat the Packers outright, 24-22. Saquon Barkley was a stud rushing the football 20 times for 86 yards going OVER the totals in both categories, which helped my cause. Unfortunately I had the teams playing below the total of 37 points. Oh well, that only makes me hungrier to hit a winner this week.

After navigating a stretch of games against some tough teams, the Eagles can breathe a sigh of relief. Their next four opponents all have a losing record entering this week’s games with Seattle having dropped four in a row for the first time since Pete Carroll became head coach. Philly still has to pick up its game after getting bullied by San Francisco and Dallas the last two weeks losing those games by an average of 21.5 points. That’s not a good look for a team that wants to be a Super Bowl contender.

The Eagles are relatively healthy entering the home stretch so it’s more about fixing problems that have plagued them recently. The offense has sputtered and failed to score a touchdown last week against the Cowboys. And they’ve surrendered more than 30 points in three straight games, their longest streak since 2015. The Eagles cashed the OVER on the NFL betting line in four of their last six games. Seattle is a decent team fighting for a playoff spot, but I do think the Eagles will turn things around on both sides of the football. There’s too much talent not too. So backing Philly minus the points is a solid NFL wager.

With Geno Smith injured Drew Lock took over as the starter with a decent outing last week in Nor Cal. The club is unsure of who will start Monday night with Lock at least giving the staff confidence he can get the job done. Lock isn’t going to suddenly light up the scoreboard and turn the Seahawks into scoring machine. Hell, Smith had a hard time doing that with the Seahawks ranked in the bottom half of the league in points and yards per game. That leads me to the total, which hit the board at 48. That number on the NFL betting line is just too high for my liking with recent struggles on both sides keeping the score UNDER the total.

When talking about problems that can be fixed the play of Jalen Hurts ranks up there. It’s hard to say if a knee injury sustained last month is affecting his play but the club has been more conservative using his talents, especially in the run game. And the Eagles would like to run the football successfully in order to take some pressure off the D. That leaves D’Andre Swift as a target for going OVER his projected rushing yard total of 58.5.
