Division Round NFL Player Prop Best Bets
January 19, 2024Worst Roulette Bets
January 22, 2024Instead of focusing on one matchup and working a same-game parlay we’ll take the entire Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs for our multiple-team wager this week. Maybe better results are in store with this method after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles Wild Card matchup produced a losing NFL parlay. The top-seeds from each conference get back on the field against unlikely opponents with the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers the biggest NFL betting line favorites at BetRivers sportsbook. The NFL betting week starts with the Ravens hosting the Houston Texans as a 9.5-point favorite. The Niners and Green Bay Packers close Saturday’s slate with the home team also laying 9.5-points. The No. 1 seeds were a combined 8-0 and went 5-3 as a NFL pick against the spread when favored by at least that many points during the regular season.
There are two other games on Sunday to determine which teams take the next step towards a Super Bowl appearance. The Detroit Lions broke down numerous barriers this season and are a 6.5-point favorite over the Buccaneers to reach their second NFC Championship game. They ended an 8-game postseason skid with a 24-23 Wild Card win over the Rams. Though they failed to cover the 3-point line the Lions were a profitable NFL wager during the regular season with 12 payouts. Playing for the third time in the last four postseasons, the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs visit the Buffalo Bills as a rare underdog catching 2.5-points

When the Niners and Ravens suit up this weekend it will have been three weeks since a number of starters and regulars on both teams last played a game. With the top seeds already secured a number of players were rested in the regular season finale. There is something to be said about having that first-round bye, which is why teams bust their tails during the season to get it. But too much time off at this time of year can also be detrimental. And with the teams each laying 9.5-points, I’m inclined to stay away from the NFL favorites on the line. So instead I’ll look at the total and the number of 50.5 in the Green Bay-SF game is too high for my liking. Weather reports call for rain in northern California Saturday evening slowing the turf and potentially halting teams that like to run the football.
Green Bay did score 48 points in their upset of Dallas last week but they got plenty of help from the Boys to get there. I don’t think Jordan Love and Aaron Jones will be as successful against an aggressive Niners group. And with the exception of two ‘garbage time’ touchdowns the Packers D did a nice job against Dak Prescott and the explosive Dallas offense giving me confidence to back the UNDER.
The biggest hurdle for Detroit was getting that first playoff win since the 1991 season out of the way allowing them to continue their magnificent run. The Lions matched a franchise record for wins and captured their first division title in three decades. Detroit and Cleveland are the only teams around since the merger to never play in a Super Bowl, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Bucs caught a disinterested Eagles team last week that made them look better than they actually are.
When the teams met in Tampa in Week 6 the Lions held the Bucs to 251 yards in a 20-6 victory covering the NFL football line. The Lions also boast one of the game’s top offenses with Jared Goff coming off an emotional win over his former team. Goff was efficient completing 22 of 27 for 277 yards and a TD without a turnover. And I do believe Baker Mayfield will have a much tougher time against a team that’s actually giving an effort. I’ll lay the points and back the Lions as a NFL best bet.
The final game of the weekend might just be the best. The Chiefs and Bills have a rivalry going sparked by some intense playoff matchups over the last few seasons. It’s hard to forget the Divisional Round game in the 2021 season where the teams combined for four scores in the final two minutes of regulation with the Chiefs winning in OT. The difference this year is the Bills get this game at home and they’ve been in playoff mode for the last two months playing excellent football winning six in a row and going 4-2 as a NFL pick against the spread. It’s not science but it feels like Buffalo’s time.
Packers / 49ers UNDER 50.5
Lions -6.5
Bills -2.5
