January 31, 2024Caesars Readies for North Carolina Mobile Sports Betting
January 31, 2024LIV Golf is back for their third season and they once again start in Mexico with the LIV Golf Mayakoba event. We are still waiting for the PGA Tour and LIV Golf to figure things out, and some sort of resolution needs to come soon because more and more top players are playing LIV events. This week will mark the debut of Jon Rahm in LIV Golf and he is the LIV betting favorite at odds of 4-1 at Caesars. Just this week it was announced that Tyrrell Hatton would be joining LIV and he is the co-fifth choice in the betting odds this week at +1400. We have seen some longshots win lately on the PGA Tour and if Rahm falters this week in Mexico, we could see a good price on this week’s LIV winner. Let’s look at LIV Golf Mayakoba odds and picks.

Favorite
Jon Rahm +400
I say it every week on the PGA Tour that you can’t bet golf favorites and win. It wasn’t that much different a year ago in LIV, as favorites were a losing proposition. I know that LIV is not as strong as the PGA Tour, but the same principle still applies. Rahm is definitely the top golfer in the field, but he is not head and shoulders above players like Smith, Hatton, Koepka and others. I don’t take golf betting favorites that often and I am not taking Rahm at this low number.
Golf Picks
Cameron Smith +1200
When was the last time you saw Smith listed at double-digit odds on the LIV Golf Tour? There is definitely some value in taking Smith at this number considering he would have been the favorite if not for Rahm and although Rahm is very talented, he hasn’t played in some time. I’ll take Smith at this inflated number.
Joaquin Niemann +1400
Another player who could win this week is Niemann and we get him at good odds. He is overdue to get his first LIV win and it could come this week. He finished fifth in the Australian PGA Championship and then won the Australian Open. He played well in the Dubai Desert Classic finishing fourth. He was 11th in this event a year ago.
Abraham Ancer +2200
One of the local favorites will be Ancer and I expect him to play better in LIV than he did a year ago. He could be a bit undervalued to start this season and if his putter gets hot, he could contend this week.
Adrian Meronk +2200
Another player who might be going under the radar this week is Meronk. He has been playing really well and I liked him last week before he announced he was leaving the PGA Tour and joining LIV. Why not make a big splash and get the win this week?
