February 1, 2024Super Bowl LVIII Odds First Look
February 2, 2024There are a number of teams in the NBA with a better record but none of them are playing better than the Los Angeles Clippers right now. Moving up the Western Conference standings by going 23-5 since the start of December, the Clips have also been a good betting pick in that span with a 19-9 record against the NBA betting line. They make their fifth stop on a season-long 7-game road trip in Detroit on Friday, Feb. 2 and will be a big favorite to continue their heater. Are they a solid pick on a NBA parlay against the NBA’s worst team, or are they primed for a letdown? That matchup is one of 10 on the Friday night slate giving bettors plenty of chances to hit a winning NBA parlay at BetRivers sportsbook.
Two teams have a cover rate better than 61 percent and both of them are in action. The Orlando Magic earned their third straight payout beating San Antonio 108-98 on Wednesday night as a 6-point NBA line pick favorite. Orlando is the league’s best NBA pick against the spread going 31-17. The middle stop in a five-game road trip has them at West leading Minnesota. Though they are winless against the spread in their last three games, the Oklahoma City Thunder have paid out 63.8 percent of the time with that number even higher when hosting. OKC entertains Charlotte on Friday.

I have yet to hit a winning NBA parlay and with the calendar flipping to February time is starting to run out. Backing the Clippers in their game with Toronto last week was my only winning pick on a three-teamer. And with the Clips on a roll I may have to go back to them once again. This is a tough spot for LA, though, nearing the end of a 2-week, 7-game road trip so there could be some fatigue setting in. And although Paul George played in a blowout win over the Celtics he’s still nursing a sore groin.
The Detroit Pistons have shown signs of life splitting four games to close out January. Those two wins are one-third of their season total, so yep, it’s a big deal. Plus, the Pistons have actually been a money maker for backers covering the NBA point spread in two straight games and eight of their last nine. This just seems like a good time to back Detroit so I will on my NBA parlay.
We rarely see four former NBA first overall picks on the court in one game but we’ll get that in the matchup between Orlando and the Minnesota Timberwolves making this the most intriguing game of the night. Both clubs have used their No. 1s to elevate in the standings with the Wolves boasting the best mark in the Western Conference entering February. Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards lead Minnesota in scoring and former DPOY Rudy Gobert has the Wolves positioned as the best defensive team in the league.
The Magic have stumbled after a hot start falling back to near .500, but they remain a playoff contender in the East. Paolo Banchero averages a team-best 23.0 points with Markelle Fultz back in the starting lineup after a knee injury. Both teams are strong on defense with the Wolves possessing a little more firepower making them my NBA best bet.
I haven’t had much success on my NBA over/under picks lately so I’m abandoning that play and instead will make another selection against the line. The Indiana Pacers have been good at home this season and they are 8-2 in their last 10 home games with six wins on the NBA betting line. Spending a lot of time on the road can wear a team down and this is Sacramento’s 10th away game in their last 12. It’s also the tail end of a 7-game roadie so you can expect the Kings to have their minds elsewhere, which proves costly against a team that’s 27-18-3 against the NBA point spread.
