I’ve been breaking down all the position groups from a prop betting perspective for Super Bowl LVIII. Check out the quarterbacks and pass catchers as well! The time has come to break down the running back position which gets me pumped since I believe the ball carriers in this matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will ultimately lead to one of these teams hoisting the Lombardi Trophy come the conclusion of the big game. Let’s jump right into the current prop offerings at Caesars Sportsbook and see if we can’t add more intrigue to a game bursting with it already!

I’m gonna come right out and say it – Christian McCaffrey is going to be the MVP of Super Bowl LVIII and there isn’t a thing Kansas City will be able to do about it! Bold statement; I get it. However, this beat down has been a long time coming with Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk, Fred Warner, Nick Bosa and a bevy of others still smarting from that fourth quarter collapse in LIV that cost them a shot at taking home bragging rights.
What that 2020 team didn’t have in the backfield was a cyborg that can singlehandedly will his team to a win whenever he steps onto the gridiron. The San Francisco 49ers have that in spades now with RUN CMC routinely making an impact with both his legs and pass catching prowess to get the Niners back into the big game. The dude has combined for 260 scrimmage yards and 4 TD in the playoffs, and went into the second season scoring a touchdown in all but three regular season games. I’m not one to lay heavy chalk, but his -225 odds to score an anytime touchdown at Caesars are still short and offer value. I’ll go the first touchdown route instead simply because I expect a night to remember for No. 23.
Brock Purdy has shown time and time again that he puckers up in big games. While I expect the Niners QB1 to still represent well in this game, it only makes perfect sense to lean on the stud in the backfield early on so as to alleviate the stress and pressure No. 13 will experience right out of the chute. I fully expect McCaffrey to hit the ground running against this sorry sack of a Kansas City Chiefs run defense. I can’t express enough how big a fraud it truly is! I’m still baffled as to how and why Baltimore let it off the hook. Kyle Shanahan won’t! It doesn’t matter if he’s winning or trailing, CMC is getting the rock, repeatedly! I’m not hitting his 125+ rushing yards prop simply because he’s carrying the ball 23 times for 123 yards and 2 TD on Sunday 😉

Fading the Chiefs RB1 has absolutely nothing to do with not believing Isiah Pacheco has the wherewithal to get the job done. Can he go over his 66.5 rushing yards prop? Sure. Can he exceed his 16.5 yard receiving yards prop? Of course! Can he get his number called at least 17 times? Most definitely! He’s been doing all of that with regularity in recent games.
However, it will all depend on game script and that’s something I don’t foresee going the way of the defending champs right from the opening kick. The Chiefs run D (#18) is an absolute joke, and it will be shredded right from the outset. Even before this one gets out of hand and Patrick Mahomes is forced to let it fly in comeback mode, No. 10 will be forced to deal with the strength of the 49ers defense that comes in defending the run (No. 3).
After letting Damien Williams embarrass them in LIV, you can bet your bottom dollar Bosa, Armstead, Hargrave, Greenlaw, and Warner are chomping at the bit to get another crack at the AFC reps.

This is more of a wishful thinking type wager than anything else, so nothing more than a pizza money flier on good ‘ol Mr. ‘Two Things at Once’ getting a carry. Andy Reid has been known to add a number of eye-opening wrinkles to his offense in big spots, so why not put even more of a spotlight on Travis Kelce and let him nestle in under center for at least once carry? His ‘ol lady and her millions of minions will love it – So too will we if it happens!
