We get an excellent field this week at The Genesis Invitational, with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler listed as the golf betting favorite. It will be the third Signature Event of the PGA Tour season so that means a lot of big names will be in the field. Joining Scheffler will be most of the Top 10 golfers in the world including Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Max Homa, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay. Not to be forgotten is Tiger Woods who will be hosting this event at Riviera Country Club. Scheffler is listed as the favorite in golf betting odds at Caesars at odds of +650. The only other player listed with single-digit odds is McIlroy at +900. Let’s look at Genesis Invitational odds and picks.

Venue: Riviera Country Club is a par 71 that measures 7,322 yards.
Last Year: Jon Rahm was able to hold off Max Homa to win by two shots a year ago. Patrick Cantlay finished in third place, Will Zalatoris finished fourth, while Keith Mitchell was fifth.

Scottie Scheffler +650
Yet another golf betting favorite didn’t come through last week when Scheffler couldn’t close the deal. It looked like Scheffler was going to win but he faltered down the stretch and didn’t get the win. I say on a regular basis that I like Scheffler’s game, but I still have concerns about his putting. This week’s field is excellent and although I think Scheffler could win, I simply don’t take golf betting favorites except on rare occasions.
Golf Picks
Ludvig Aberg +2000
There is no question that Aberg is a rising star in golf. This will be his first tournament at Riviera but Aberg is so good he could win in his first try. Aberg is excellent on approach and mid-irons are going to be critical this week. He has played on these types of greens in the past and I think he can contend this week.
Sam Burns +2200
Burns played well last week and we get a decent price on him in this field. He already has five PGA Tour wins in his career, so he knows how to win. Riviera should suit Burns well, as he does well on courses that are medium length and demand precision.
Sahith Theegala +2800
Theegala was in the mix last week but couldn’t quite get the win. He is capable of doing well at Riviera and his overall stats are really strong. He has been thriving lately with his approach shots and he usually putts well on Poa Annua greens. I expect him to contend again this week.
Jordan Spieth +3000
I can’t leave Spieth off my list this week, as I think he is really close to getting a win. He played well last week and was in the mix and if he gets off to a good start this week, I think he can be right there on Sunday.
Wyndham Clark +4500
I am shocked the number on Clark is this high. He won the U.S. Open last year in Los Angeles and there is no reason he can’t win at Riviera this week. He comes in playing well and his odds should be more in line with some of the favorites. Clark is a streaky putter and if he gets hot this week he can win.
Kurt Kitayama +10000
If you want a longshot then why not Kitayama? He was in the mix last week and his odds shouldn’t be this high. He won’t be penalized this week with wayward drives, as the rough at Riviera is not that difficult. I think he can be in the mix this week and we get a huge price.
