February 13, 2024If you believe Valentine’s Day is a scam created by greeting card companies and florists then you probably have some extra cash lying around that you can instead put down on a NBA parlay at Caesars sportsbook. And the league is doing its best to accommodate those lonely non-believers with a bountiful 13-game slate on tap for Wednesday, Feb. 14. The league-best Boston Celtics host the Brooklyn Nets in the second of a back-to-back home and home with their Atlantic Division rivals. Boston won its 41st game beating Miami on Sunday for its fourth straight and sixth win in seven games. However, the C’s are just 1-6 against the NBA betting line in that span and they are just 24-27-2 as a NBA pick against the spread this season.
With Boston’s lead in the Eastern Conference expanding, it’s imperative that the teams behind them keep pace. Four of the next five closest squads are in action with the most impactful game being the New York at Orlando matchup. Following a stretch where the Knickerbockers won 15 of 17 games they’ve stumbled recently with a loss to Houston on Monday their third straight and fourth in five games. The Knicks have been a money pit at the betting window going 0-5 as a NBA betting pick. The Golden State Warriors aren’t done yet. They take a five-game winning streak into their game with the LA Clippers in the nightcap of ESPN’s doubleheader putting a bow on the day’s action. Four of those wins were by double figures and the Dubs are perfect as a NBA line pick in those five games.

I come into Wednesday fresh off my first NBA parlay win of the season looking to make up lost ground from earlier in the campaign. I was getting close with two of my previous three-wager NBA parlays coming up just short. Last Friday they all came through with the Bucks blasting Charlotte, 120-84, as a 16-point home dog. I also backed the Hawks as one of my NBA picks as a 5.5-point favorite against the shorthanded Sixers. Despite getting outscored by 11 points in the final frame Atlanta held on for the 6-point victory. And lastly the Lakers got at least 20 points from all five starters upsetting New Orleans. Let’s see if I can continue the run with Wednesday’s picks.
The Eastern Conference clash between the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets has the potential to be a shootout. On average the Hawks attempt the most field goals in the NBA and rank third in scoring led by Trae Young. The Hornets give up a lot of points but they have a sluggish offense, however they should be able to penetrate Atlanta’s defense since the Hawks surrender 124 points per game. The OVER looks like a NBA best bet in this matchup.
It’s hard enough playing in the altitude of Denver and the Sacramento Kings have to do it in the second of a back-to-back after tangling with Phoenix the night before. It’s not just the altitude that gives the Nuggets a distinct homecourt advantage it’s also their roster. The defending champs just dropped the final two games of a three-game road trip, including an embarrassing 135-106 setback in Sacramento, giving Nikola Jokic and mates reason for payback.
Picking another game was tough with so many to analyze. I wanted to back the Heat on the road against Philly and looked hard at backing the Jazz at home against Lakers. Instead I zeroed in on the Suns at home against Detroit. Both teams play the night before the difference being that Phoenix is at home and Detroit sucks. The Suns have won six straight in the series going 4-2 against the NBA point spread and they are in good place with their roster taking shape after numerous setbacks earlier in the season.
