New York Sports Betting Sets New Record
February 13, 2024Alabama Sports Betting Bill Getting Closer
February 14, 2024All of the world’s Top 10 ranked golfers except for Jon Rahm are in the field for this week’s Genesis Invitational. Rahm is the defending champion but since he is now playing on the LIV Golf Tour, he is ineligible to play this event. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is listed as the betting favorite, with World No. 2 Rory McIlroy the second choice. I have struggled a little bit lately with the matchups, so it is time to turn things around with a big week with The Genesis Invitational matchup picks.

Defending Champion: Jon Rahm
Tournament Notes: This event has usually been difficult with par usually a good score, but since this is now a Signature Event, more top players will be in the field, so scores should be better. The weather will be good for the first three rounds but Sunday could see windy conditions impact the scoring.

Golf Matchup Picks
Scottie Scheffler -155 vs. Rory McIlroy
I went against Scheffler last week as I thought the price on his matchup against Thomas was simply too high. I am not making the mistake of going against Scheffler again. He is the top player in the world and I don’t think it is that close. He is the best player in the world tee-to-green and on approach and those are the two key stats for this week. I like Rory’s game, but Scheffler is simply the better player right now.
Max Homa -110 vs. Collin Morikawa
I am going with the power matchups this week and getting involved with some top player vs. player matchups. Homa didn’t play well last week in Arizona but I still think he is a top player and better than Morikawa. Homa has been really good at Riviera with a win, a 2nd, a tie for 5th and a tie for 10th since 2020. Morikawa has also done well at Riviera with a tie for 2nd and a tie for 6th, but I am still taking Homa in this matchup.
Sahith Theegala -120 vs. Cameron Young
Theegala was one of my picks to win this week in the odds article. He won’t get hurt that much this week by wayward drives, as the rough at Riviera is not that long. Theegala tied for 6th in this event a year ago and he comes in playing well with two top five finishes this year. I’ll take Theegala in this matchup against Young.
Jason Day -145 vs. Cam Davis
Day looks healthy and he already has a pair of top 10 finishes this year. He tied for 6th last time out at Pebble Beach. He played well at Riviera last week with a tie for 9th. I will lay the price and take him in this matchup against Davis.
Harris English -110 vs. Beau Hossler
I am still not sold on the game of Hossler. We know that English is a consistent player who doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. Riviera is a course where minimizing mistakes is critical. I’ll take English in this matchup.
