Final Four Picks
April 2, 2024LIV Golf Miami Odds and Picks
April 3, 2024The 2024 MLB betting season just wrapped its opening series of the year. Some teams, like the Pirates, Yankees, Brewers, and Tigers, started off unblemished, while others, like the White Sox, Mets, Astros, and Marlins, failed to log a single win. But before we go and crown the four winners and write-off the four losers, just know that we haven’t even put a dent in the season just yet. Heck, some teams haven’t even had their respective home openers! This is a marathon and not a sprint. Taking that mentality into account, let’s look at some matchups locked in for Wednesday, April 3 and see if we can’t come up with some winning legs at Caesars Sportsbook to add to your parlays – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Kansas City Royals vs. Baltimore Orioles
Oh baby! MLB bettors couldn’t have asked for a more intriguing pitcher’s duel to kick-off Hump Day’s slate than the one set to go down in Camden Yards between the Royals Cole Ragans and Orioles Corbin Burnes. The O’s new SP1 was terrific in his debut tossing six innings of 1 ER ball with 11 K and near 40 percent called strikes + whiff percentage in an 11-3 whitewashing of the Halos. A huge showing from Burnes was to be expected his first time toeing the bump for the Orioles paired with the struggle he had throughout most of 2023. That being said, I’m fading the burly righty in start No. 2 against this up-and-comer out of Kansas City that really caught my eye in the second half of last year. Though he took the loss against Minnesota last Thursday, the southpaw still impressed striking out nine and allowing 2 ER through six innings. I don’t trust the bullpen to closed this one out, so I’ll look at the first five instead and look for both hurlers to deal early.

Atlanta Braves vs. Chicago White Sox
Normally I’d be quick to look the way of homebased Chicago in the finale of this three-game set, but that won’t be the case with Spencer Strider on the bump for the visiting Braves. Atlanta’s ace was on the hook for the loss in his season debut at Philadelphia where he gave up three hits (1 HR) and 2 ER and needed 90 pitches just to get through five innings against Bryce Harper and Co who coughed it up late. Though he logged an 8:2 K/BB ratio, he came a half strikeout short of surpassing his 8.5 K prop. No team had tallied fewer hits (18) than the White Sox through Sunday with the eight runs scored tied with the Mets for the fewest in the league as well. On top of the punchless hitting, the Southsiders struck out at a 29.3 percent clip and amassed a total of five walks through 99 at-bats. Even with Chicago’s starter unlisted, I have no reservations backing the Braves with a locked in Strider on the bump likely to give us at least six dominant innings.

Detroit Tigers vs. New York Mets
I recommended backing the Tigers with Tarik Skubal on the bump last week, and Detroit didn’t disappoint; save for failing to cover the run-line in the 1-0 cash against the closing baseball betting odds. Regardless, Detroit’s staff ace catapulted up the AL Cy Young odds board before the start, and his six shutout innings to go along with 6 K and zero walks did absolutely nothing to fatten his rate of return up at Caesars which currently clocks in at 8-1. The Mets offense was just overpowered by the Brewers pitching staff, and will now have its hands full against the arms of the Tigers that shut the White Sox down in Chicago over the weekend. The scenario is ripe for another solid showing from the Tigers overpowering left-hander. I honestly can’t believe Jose Quintana still has a gig in the Bigs. The dude was already washed with the Cubs year’s back and did nothing to impress in his 2024 debut with 2 ER and 4:2 K/BB through 4.2 innings. Skubal was limited to just 83 pitches through six in his debut. I expect a little more leash to be let out in act two against a Mets lineup he can dominate.
