Week 2 in college football features a number of Top 25 matchups, including the No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies visiting the top-ranked Clemson Tigers on ABC. Brian Blessing and the Gold Sheet’s Bruce Marshall glance back briefly at last week’s college football results and some of the bad beats, including Oregon vs. Auburn and then break down this week’s card with a bonus look at Monday’s game between Notre Dame and Louisville.

The action for Week 2 begins on Friday with four games, including Wake Forest at Rice on CBS Sports Network and Marshall at Boise State on ESPN 2. Bruce goes in depth on the game between Wake Forest and Rice, including an interesting pointspread trend, while Brian is looking at the total on the game between Marshall and Boise State and Bruce has a side pick on the contest.  The Broncos are listed as an 11-point favorite at BookMaker with the total at 55.

The Saturday college football schedule begins with Ohio visiting Pittsburgh. Brian and Bruce talk about this game and Bruce has a pick on this contest. Pittsburgh is a 5.5-point favorite at BookMaker, with the total at 53.

Another game that Brian and Bruce talk about is Vanderbilt visiting Purdue. The Boilermakers are listed as 8-point favorites, with the total at 55.5. Bruce has some insight on the game and he makes a pick for this contest.

Bruce breaks down the matchup between Syracuse and Maryland and he said he is not sold on the Terrapins. Syracuse is listed as a 3-point road favorite at BookMaker.

Missouri is listed as about a two-touchdown favorite at home against West Virginia on Saturday. Brian believes that the Tigers are going to bounce back in a big way this week at home, but Bruce is more cautious about backing some of the mid-tier SEC teams.

Brian and Bruce discuss one of the feature matchups on Saturday, as the Army Black Knights visit the Michigan Wolverines on FOX with Michigan laying more than three touchdowns. Army was disappointing in a 14-7 home win over Rice as 23.5-point home overlays last week, while Michigan also failed to get the money in a 40-21 win over Middle Tennessee as 36-point chalks. Bruce gives Army a decent chance to cover this contest.

One of the top matchups on Saturday has the No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies visiting the No. 1 Clemson Tigers on ABC. Clemson is an 18.5-point favorite at home, with the total listed at 61. Last year Clemson barely got out of Texas A&M alive in a 28-26 win in which then freshman Trevor Lawrence emerged as the top Tigers signal caller.  Last week Clemson got the money in a 52-14 home win over Georgia Tech but Lawrence was sloppy with 2 interceptions. Texas A&M also cashed in week one with a 41-7 home payout over Texas State. Quarterback Kellen Mond threw three touchdown passes in the win. Clemson is an impressive 7-3 against the spread as a home chalk. By contrast the Aggies have dropped 13 of their last 20 on the board as road dogs. Bruce believes the Aggies are worth taking plus the points in this game.

Other games that Brian and Bruce take a look at are Wyoming at Texas State, with the Cowboys listed as 6.5-point road favorites and a total of 45.5, BYU at Tennessee, with the Volunteers listed as 3-point favorites with a total of 51.5, Nevada at Oregon with the Ducks a 23.5-point favorite at BookMaker and, Buffalo at Penn State, with the Nittany Lions a 28.5-point favorite with a total of 57. Brian has one of his favorite plays on the total for this last contest.

Brian and Bruce wrap things up by looking at Miami, Florida taking on North Carolina. The Hurricanes are listed as a 6-point favorite in this game, with the total at 48.5.  Bruce has one of his key releases on this contest.
